Butch and Sundance

In the history of the old American west, Robert LeRoy Parker and Harry Alonzo Longabaugh, together better known by their aliases, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, were part of an outlaw gang known as "The Wild Bunch," or "The Hole In The Wall Gang," who held up trains and banks from 1889 until just past the turn of the century. With lawmen and Pinkerton detectives hot on their trail, they fled to South America where, according to one account, and a popular movie in 1969, they were eventually cornered and killed in a wild shootout with law enforcement officers and government troops in Bolivia.

Cactus Bible Prophecy describes two prophets that are going to make an appearance on the world scene just before The Return Of Jesus Christ. They will be regarded as a pair of criminals on a worldwide scale - hated by people and governments all around the earth. Unlike Butch and Sundance however, God's Two Witnesses (see also Are The Two Witnesses Here Now?) will absolutely not be criminals. They will be two genuine representatives of God, armed with miraculous powers as signs of their Godly authority, and for their own self-defense, who after three and a half years of prophesying before a grossly deceived world, will be killed in a fierce fire fight with the forces of Satan (see That Old Serpent and The Lame Duck). God will eventually allow them to be killed, but He most certainly will never allow them to be defeated. Here's their story, from the pages of your Bible:

Who, When, Where

"Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told: "Rise and measure the Temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, but do not measure the court outside the Temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample over the holy city for forty-two months [see The Place To Watch]. And I will grant My two witnesses power to prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands which stand before The Lord of the earth. And if any one would harm them, fire pours out from their mouth and consumes their foes; if any one would harm them, thus he is doomed to be killed. They have power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they desire." (Revelation 11:1-6 RSV)

"And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war upon them [see Down Without A Fight?] and conquer them and kill them, and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is allegorically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. For three days and a half men from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth." (Revelation 11:7-10 RSV)

"But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up hither!" And in the sight of their foes they went up to heaven in a cloud. And at that hour there was a great Earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven." (Revelation 11:11-13 RSV)

Fact Finder: The Bible plainly says that God's two witnesses will be killed "where their Lord was crucified" (Revelation 11:8). Where was Jesus Christ crucified?
