Let Your Light Shine

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16 RSV) (see Christian Living)

Rise and Shine "For so The Lord has commanded us, saying, 'I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.'" (Acts 13:47 RSV) (see The Gospel)

"Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light." (Romans 13:11-12 RSV) (see Armor Of God)

"For it is The God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ." (2 Corinthians 4:6 RSV) (see The Seven Days Of Creation)

"For once you were darkness, but now you are light in The Lord; walk as children of light, for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true, and try to learn what is pleasing to The Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light." (Ephesians 5:8-14 RSV) (see What Is Sin?)

"May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to The Father, Who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:11-14 RSV) (See The Father and The Logos)

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." (1 Peter 2:9 RSV) (see What Is A Saint?)

"And we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." (2 Peter 1:19-21 RSV) (see Prophecy)

"This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:5-7 RSV) (see Jesus Christ)

"Then he showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of The Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There shall no more be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of The Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall worship Him; they shall see His Face, and His Name shall be on their foreheads. And night shall be no more; they need no light of lamp or sun, for The Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign for ever and ever." (Revelation 22:1-5 RSV) (see The Kingdom of God)
