"A Proud Atheist"
by Wayne Blank
The writer of the email, an atheist who found himself reading a Christian web site, suggested that I should edit my study, and remove my quotation of Einstein, so that I do not "appear unintelligent" and risk "offending" other atheists by what I've written (assuming that other atheists are reading Daily Bible Study, which seems like a contradiction in logic, at least to me) - all the while ignoring that most Christians would find much of what atheists write to be offensive too, if they went out of their way to read it. But then, in most civilized countries today, freedom of speech is as much a right of atheists as it is of Christians, as is freedom of religion, which, ironically, guarantees atheists their freedom from religion.
Was Einstein An Atheist?
It's quite true that Albert Einstein was not a religious man in a conventional sense, but this writer is also convinced that Einstein, as one of the most intelligent humans that has ever existed, was no fool either. Rather than removing the one quote that I have of Einstein in the earlier study, I include here more statements that he made about God, not to offend anyone, but to get at the truth. While ultimately only God and Albert Einstein know for sure if he was an atheist, we can at least form our own opinions, for now, from the man's own words:
The "proud atheist" was quite polite and civil in his email, unlike a number of others that I have heard from (see Fools For Christ). He is obviously an intelligent man, and I truly do hope that he will continue to visit Daily Bible Study, and give himself a chance to discover the facts, so that, as a number of former atheists have done, he will eventually wake up to the realization that God really does exist.
Honest logic requires that for there to be a creation, there must be a Creator, and that for there to be laws of nature, there must be a natural Law Maker. It's ridiculous to believe that all of the orderly, physical universe could just somehow "happen," without plan and control, from nothing (see The Seven Days Of Creation and How Big Is Heaven?).
