When The Cat Will Become The Mouse

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you. Cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares about you. Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, Who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you." (1 Peter 5:6-10 RSV)

Rat Satan The Predator

As the Scriptures above describe, Satan is "like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour." Satan tends to pick off the (spiritually) weak and uninformed, or the Biblical "stragglers" who interpret the Holy Bible to suit themselves (see I Did It My Way...). Satan's greatest weapon against humanity has always been deception (see Satan's Language and What Does Satan Look Like?), beginning in the Garden of Eden when he got Eve to believe "you will not die" if you disobey God (Genesis 3:4) to the end-time tribulation upon God's people who Jesus Christ warned "the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God." (John 16:2)

The Tables Will Turn

The good news is that the devil has already lost (see The Lame Duck), and he knows it. As the time gets closer for his removal, Satan is going to panic:

"Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!" (Revelation 12:12 RSV)

The devil's rampage prior to The Return Of Jesus Christ, when Satan's rule will end (see Who Still Rules The World Today? and What Satan Fears Most) will be unparalleled in history (see also Never Before, Never Again):

"Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the Commandments of God [see The Ten Commandments Now?] and bear testimony to Jesus." (Revelation 12:12-17 RSV)

"For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by his appearing and his coming. The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved." (2 Thessalonians 2:7-10 RSV)

A World Set Free

Satan's evil influence has imprisoned humanity, a captivity that will end when the Messiah rules:

"So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" (Romans 7:21-24 RSV)

"For while your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, I would have you wise as to what is good and guileless as to what is evil; then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you." (Romans 16:19-20 RSV)

The Hunter Will Become The Hunted,
The Captor Will Become The Captive

Satan's cage awaits him; he will be hunted down and locked up at the return of Jesus Christ:

"Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years were ended. After that he must be loosed for a little while. Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years [see Resurrections]. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended." (Revelation 20:1-5 RSV)

Briefly released at the end of the 1,000 years, as the final test for the devil, and humanity, before the Judgment Day, Satan will then be neutralized forever. Then the final Judgment, the lake of fire (see Planet On Fire!), and the New Earth

"And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be loosed from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city; but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

"Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it; from his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; and if any one's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:7-15 RSV)

The Order of Satan's Doom

  • Satan's rampage on the world prior to the Return of Jesus Christ, primarily then through the Beast and Great False Prophet, and their influence upon a grossly deceived world (see Revelation 13)

  • The Return of Jesus Christ along with the first resurrection of dead saints / the transformation of saints alive that day (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17), Satan put away for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3)

  • The 1,000 years of earthly rule by Jesus Christ and the then-spirit Saints (Revelation 20:4).

  • At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan will be released briefly as the final test, for him and humanity (Revelation 20:7-10), before the final Judgment and the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
