Nice Guys Finish First

There is an widely-accepted incorrect old saying in this world that "nice guys (and girls) finish last." Those who believe such foolishness, or live as though it were true, choose to ignore, by turning their backs on the love and law of God, where the "finish line" actually is. The "prize" for the righteous is glorious eternal life, while liars and cheats merely "lead" the race to their own destruction, "for what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? For the Son of man is to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will repay every man for what he has done." (Matthew 16:26-27 RSV)

Just A Road Sign 2 Very Different "Finish Lines"

All will cross the line, from which the righteous will have eternal life before them, while the unrighteous will have reached their dead end:

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable." (1 Corinthians 9:24-25 RSV)

"Better is a little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but The Lord upholds the righteous." (Psalm 37:16-17 RSV)

"What the wicked dreads will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted." (Proverbs 10:24 RSV)

"A wicked man earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward." (Proverbs 11:18 RSV)

"the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind; when it was full, men drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad. So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous, and throw them into the furnace of fire; there men will weep and gnash their teeth." (Matthew 13:47-50 RSV)

"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and every one who loves and practices falsehood." (Revelation 22:14-15 RSV)

"there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust" (Acts 24:15 RSV) (see Resurrections)
