Storm Clouds On The Horizon
Sometimes, on a warm, bright summer day, the only warning that we may have of a change in the weather is the sound of distant thunder. The sun may still be shining where we are, but off toward the horizon, dark clouds can be seen gathering. We then can be quite sure that there is a storm coming.
All Of The Pieces Of Prophecy Are Now Coming Together
We live in a very unique phase in the history of humanity. There has never been a time in which the human race can both study prophecy while actually watching so many elements of it falling into place. Many students of the Bible who believe that the Scriptures say what they mean, and mean what they say, are convinced beyond all doubt that the stage is now being set for a very grand entrance.
Prophecy is like distant thunder. It is both a promise of life-giving rain, and a warning to take shelter. Those who ignore those prophecies that have been given to us however, risk far more than just getting wet.
According to the Words of Jesus Christ Himself, first the storm:
"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of The Elect those days will be shortened." (Matthew 24:21-22 RSV)
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken[see Signs In The Heavens and The Seven Seals]; then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory [see The Return Of Jesus Christ]; and He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call [see The Feast Of Trumpets and Resurrections], and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that He is near, at the very gates." (Matthew 24:29-33 RSV)
And then a bright new day:
"It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of The Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised up above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it, and many nations shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of The Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us His ways and we may walk in His paths."
"For out of Zion shall go forth the Law, and the word of The Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide for strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more" (Micah 4:1-3 RSV)
"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. But be glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy."
"I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and be glad in My people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress." No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed. They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of My people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, or bear children for calamity; for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of The Lord, and their children with them. Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear."
"The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, says The Lord." (Isaiah 65:17-25 RSV)
The photograph above, with its heavy dark clouds, well symbolizes the very bumpy ride that this old world is soon in for, but the picture also shows beautiful clear sunshine coming on the other side. That bright new day, that bright new world, is what Christianity is all about. Will you be there?
