"Nuclear Gunpowder"
I live in a country, Canada, that since the late 1960s has hypocritically proclaimed itself as a "peace keeping" nation that threatens no one, and that although it has an over-abundance of natural materials, talented scientists and sophisticated technology to easily do so, has steadfastly refused to arm itself with nuclear weapons even though it could readily do so in a matter of months, if not weeks. Many Canadians and Canadian politicians claim that Canada's "hands are clean" when it comes to "weapons of mass destruction." But is that true? No, it's not. No more so than for the US or Britain.
Canada supplied uranium for the US "Manhattan Project" that produced the world's first atomic bombs in 1945. The American atomic bomb that then vaporized Hiroshima (approximately 130,000 people killed or injured) on August 6 of that year was powered by Canadian uranium from Ontario (the province where this author lives). The American atomic bomb that 3 days later, on August 9, was dropped on Nagasaki (approximately 75,000 people killed or injured) was also powered by Canadian uranium. For many years, Canada has been the world's number one producer of nuclear material and technology (in one year alone, Canada exported 12,000 tons of uranium, almost all under military contracts to produce American and British nuclear bombs). The American and British nuclear weapons of mass destruction programs, thousands and thousands of US and British nuclear bombs contain Canadian uranium. If you want to find the "weapons of mass destruction" in the western world, look to Canada for much of the "nuclear gunpowder," and then look to the US and Britain for the bombs and the people who await the order to use them (some of whom are readers of this Daily Bible Study).
Whose Weapons Should The World Fear?
What I've written is not meant to be critical of the US or Britain, or Canada - all of whom are civilized societies, none of whom are "terrorist" nations. They are where my heart is, they are where my loyalty is (I can't help it, everyone has their "faults"). But truth is where the truth is. And the simple truth is, the people who are today conducting wars in the search for weapons of mass destruction are themselves the possessors of more weapons of mass destruction than any other human nation. That's just reality. And if humanity ever destroyed itself with nuclear weapons, much of the uranium used to do so would have been produced by Canada, a self-proclaimed "peace keeping" nation.
But are there other sorts of weapons of mass destruction? Does God have weapons of mass destruction? Yes, He does, and His arsenal is infinitely larger than the US and Britain, billions of times over. And He's going to use them, not just to win a war, but to put an end to war.
An example of the many Scriptures that describe the devastating weapons that God is going to use to bring peace to the earth:
"The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.""And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed."
"And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter."
"And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise." (Revelation 8:7-12 KJV)
Fact Finder: Is there coming a time when the nations are no longer going to produce weapons of mass destruction, when "they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more"?
Micah 4:1-4
