God is always and plainly referred to as The Father, but I've sometimes wondered if, by nature, women are a little closer to God than men, in the sense that women actually know what it feels like, physically and psychologically, to create life from nothing, "nothing" in the sense that particular life would not have come into being if not for them. Most societies, ancient or modern, primitive or technologically advanced, religious or secular, revere motherhood for what it is - an act of creation.

The Creation Of Children

Holy Bible When with child, if a mother stopped breathing, the child would also be without life. Do the Scriptures make any similar comparison with God and His creation? Yes, they do.

"if He gather unto Himself His Spirit and His breath; all flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust." (Job 34:14-15 KJV)

Is the Creation sometimes referred to as a birth? Yes, it is.

"For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." (Romans 8:22 KJV)

Jesus Christ too used a mother hen, rather than a rooster (it will however be the "roosters," male and female, who will win the peace that is to come after Christ's return - see "To Meet The Lord In The Air") gathering her children as an analogy for the Spiritual and Physical Gatherings that are to come:

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord." (Matthew 23:37-39 KJV)
