What Does "Election" Mean In The Bible?
Almighty God is absolutely sovereign in all things. God chooses His servants, where He wants, when He wants, in order that they may serve Him and all others whose time has not yet come. The Elect of now are the first harvest who will serve in the much larger harvest to come (see also Seasons Of The Harvest):
Because so much of the world does not yet understand, or rather, is yet incapable of understanding (see A Brainwashed World), God's Elect have often been hated, ironically, and tragically, most often by those who claim to be Christian. Those of the Elect who are going to be forced to defend themselves because of their preaching and teaching of the true Gospel (including God's end-time two witnesses, see Smoke On The Water, Fire In The Sky), are not as likely to be defending themselves from Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus etc. etc. but rather from people who profess to be Christian, as made very plain in many Scriptures, including Revelation 17:3-6 as quoted below. That has been true throughout history, and it will greatly intensify in the time just prior to Christ's return:
"So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast [see Who Is The Woman Riding The Beast?, also The Little Big Horn], full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the Martyrs of Jesus" (Revelation 17:3-6 KJV)"For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Matthew 24:21-24 KJV)
The Elect will be resurrected, or changed if alive that day, at Christ's return (see also When Will You Be Judged?):
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Matthew 24:29-31 KJV)"For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, To Meet The Lord In The Air" (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 KJV)
