Hiding In Plain Sight
by Wayne Blank
I also found Americans posing as Canadians to be rather ironic. I'm an actual Canadian who is very often mistaken for an American (well, actually, I am an American since Canada, and numerous other countries in North and South America, are in America too; many regard "Americans" claiming to be the Americans to be like, for example, Germans claiming to be the Europeans - but then, while Germans, Canadians, British, French, Mexicans etc. all have an easy and obvious national title rather than the entire continent on which they live, what alternative do "Americans" have? United States-ians? Individual state citizenships are easier, such as Californians, Texans etc., but that isn't a national title, so perhaps their critics should be a little more understanding) on Daily Bible Study, even by Americans themselves. Even the CA domain name for the web site and email is assumed by many to mean CAlifornia, which it could, but according to Internet domain protocol, never when it's the last 2 letters e.g. "ca.us" is California, ".ca" is Canada. Even at Daily Bible Study I have occasionally received angry anti-American emails from people who mistake me for an "American." From that experience, I am able to understand how Americans feel when they are talked to, or about, like that, particularly since most Americans don't deserve it either.
I don't see any harm in Americans simply appearing as Canadians, as long as it doesn't eventually become harmful to Canadians or Canada. If it helps to actually prevent harm to an innocent civilian who is merely on vacation, good. And it's not dishonest to simply wear a Maple Leaf T shirt if you're not a Canadian. Actually lying about it would of course however be a violation of the Commandment against bearing false witness.
When Hiding In Plain Sight Isn't Going To Work - The Mark of The Beast
According to Prophecy, there is coming a time when true Christians, in every country on earth, no matter who or where they are, may wish that they could pass themselves off as someone, or something, else. The Bible speaks of a time of great tribulation (see the Fact Finder question below) during which true Christians are going to face horrendous persecution (I repeatedly emphasize the word true because it will be people who merely think that they are Christians who will be persecuting them the most). Some may try to pass themselves off as someone less offensive to the spirit of the time. Some may get away with it in the eyes of their would-be persecutors. In doing so, they may escape the wrath of man, but by concealing who and what they truly are, true Christians, they are not going to escape the wrath of God. In the time just before Christ's return, true Christians are going to find themselves between a rock and a hard place - or more accurately, between The Rock and a hard place.
The "mark of the beast" will be forced on all who can be forced.
"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
Everyone who has the mark of the beast, including those of His own people who tried to hide who they are, are going to be subjected to God's wrath.
"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." (Revelation 14:9-12 KJV)
The only choice that true Christians will have in the end time is whether they will face the wrath of man for refusing the mark of the beast, or face the wrath of God for accepting the mark of the beast. But victory will surely come for those who remain true, "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" (see above).
