The Prince of Peace

"For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever." (Isaiah 9:5-7 KJV)

"Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end"

The verses above describe Jesus Christ as the "Prince of Peace," and rightfully so. But unlike other victors whose peace only lasts until someone stronger comes along (e.g. the First World War was followed by the Second World War), the Prince of Peace will establish peace on earth that will never end because no one stronger will ever arise to challenge His power and authority - and His rule will be based on truth, justice and love for all (see the Fact Finder question below).

World Peace Is Coming

While most people may think of Christ as either just a cuddly little babe in a manger, or a young pacifist who would never do something like "cast out them that sold and bought in the Temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers" (Mark 11:15 KJV), the Biblical reality is that Christ only took it all because that was the purpose of His first coming, to permit Himself to be slain as "the Lamb of God." But even while it was happening, while it was allowed to happen by a vastly superior force that was watching from heaven, He knew the military power that was awaiting Him after His sacrifice e.g. "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He shall presently give Me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?" (Matthew 26:53-54 KJV). Christ used "legions" because legion is a military term.

First will come Christ the all-powerful Peace Maker:

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His Name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses [see A Heavenly Cavalry Charge], clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, King of kings, and Lord of lords" (Revelation 19:11-16 KJV)
[also included with Him then will be those resurrected at His return, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God," Matthew 5:9 KJV - see also "To Meet The Lord In The Air"]

Then will rule Christ the Peace Keeper:

"But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of The Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of The Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for the Law shall go forth of Zion [see Who, What or Where Is Zion?], and the word of The Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Micah 4:1-3 KJV)

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4 KJV)
