Regime Change

The English word regime (which was actually adopted from the French word with the same spelling) is derived from a Latin word which simply meant to govern (regiment originated from the same word). In the last few years, "regime" has taken on a rather sinister connotation after western politicians and news media have used it as a political boogeyman word to describe dictatorships. The plain truth however is that the free western democracies are as much governed by a "regime" as the most brutal dictatorships. Regime simply means to govern, nothing more.

The term "regime change" was often used by the Bush regime, the Bush government, before the US invasion of Iraq. The term is not a new one however, nor is it the last time that it will occur. The Holy Bible speaks of a coming "regime change" (although not in those words), not just of one country by another, but of the entire world. Ironically, considering that it is today the democratic nations that are forcefully bringing about regime change in dictatorships, the regime change that will forcefully occur at Christ's return will replace all democracies (and all other forms of government in all other countries) with a dictatorship. Jesus Christ is going to rule the entire world with absolute power; the only vote that He will ever have or need is the one that He gets from God.

"He shall rule them with a rod of iron"

The return of Jesus Christ will happen with overwhelming power. Many great conquerers of world history have set out to rule the world, but all (see Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome) eventually ran out of steam when they discovered that the world is a big, brutal place filled with tough, thinking people who know how to fight. Unlike all who have ever tried, and inevitably failed, Jesus Christ is going to succeed:

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war [see The Prince of Peace]. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His Name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a Name written, King Of kings, and Lord of lords" (Revelation 19:11-16 KJV)

The world will have one Ruler, Jesus Christ, who will provide peace and security for all.

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of The Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion [see The Zion Of The Lord] and shall go forth the Law, and the Word of The Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Isaiah 2:2-4 KJV)

There will be one religion, the worship of the only true God, and "all nations shall come and worship before Thee":

"And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy Name? For thou only art Holy: for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for Thy judgments are made manifest." (Revelation 15:3-4 KJV)
