Many Preachers, One Truth

The English word preach is derived from the Latin word praedicare, meaning to publicly declare. "Preach" is used to translate a number of original words from the Holy Scriptures, such as the Hebrew words (pronounced) kaw-raw, meaning to call out, and baw-sar, meaning to announce, and the Greek words (pronounced) kay-roo-so, meaning to proclaim, and yoo-ang-el-izo meaning to announce good news. There were many "preachers" throughout Bible History, but unlike what has become the "Babylon" norm for so many of those who profess to be preachers of the Gospel today, even if they lived many centuries apart, they were consistent in their message and teachings - the Bible is the written proof of that. They may have been on different rungs of the ladder, so to speak ("islands along the river of time" may be a better analogy), but any of them would have recognized the other's preaching as the Word of God.

Many Preachers, One Truth

Noah was a "preacher of righteousness" but the world was simply too far gone to heed:

Holy Bible

"And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly" (2 Peter 2:5 KJV)

The function of Prophets is to preach:

"And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem" (Nehemiah 6:7 KJV)

King David was a preacher:

"A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for The Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry ... I delight to do Thy will, O my God: yea, Thy Law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, Thou knowest." (Psalm 40:1,8-9 KJV)

King Solomon, the son and successor of King David, was a preacher:

"The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem." (Ecclesiastes 1:1 KJV)

Isaiah makes plain why all of the preachers in the Scriptures were consistent in what they taught - they were guided not by their own opinions, but by the unchanging Holy Spirit of God (see Timeless):

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because The Lord hath anointed me to preach" (Isaiah 61:1 KJV)

Jonah was a preacher, although a reluctant one:

"And the word of The Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee." (Jonah 3:1-2 KJV)

Like all preachers of God, Jonah was sent to preach repentance:

"The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here." (Matthew 12:41 KJV)

John the Baptist was a preacher (John's preaching effectively ended when Jesus' preaching began - see John's Last Days):

"In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 3:1-2 KJV)

Repentance is what all preachers of God preach; false preachers will tell you that "God will love you no matter what you do" because "your sins are forgiven." But the Truth is, forgiveness of sins is only available to those who repent. That's what John was sent to preach, and that's what Jesus sent His servants to preach - repent so that the Blood of Christ was not in vain for you:

"John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins." (Mark 1:4 KJV)

"And He called unto Him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two ... And they went out, and preached that men should repent." (Mark 6:7,12 KJV)

Jesus Christ was a preacher:

"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 4:17 KJV)

A Prophecy To You:

"Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her." (Matthew 26:13 KJV)

The Gospel will be powerfully preached before The Return Of Jesus Christ by the two witnesses who will be martyred, and resurrected, in Jerusalem after preaching the Gospel to all the world (see Smoke On The Water, Fire In The Sky)

"And I will give power unto My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth ... These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified." (Revelation 11:3,6-8 KJV)

The completion of the preaching of the Gospel "unto all nations" will come after the return of Jesus Christ, by an angel:

"And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads ... And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting Gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." (Revelation 14:1,6-7 KJV)

"And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew 24:14 KJV)

Fact Finder: What did Paul warn will happen to those who preach anything other than the True Gospel, exactly as it is written in the Scriptures?
Galatians 1:8-9
