Universe City

The English word universe is derived from the Latin word universus which means turned into one (the English word universe is actually an abbreviation of two other words that have been derived from the same Latin origin, union and verse - "union verse" meaning one line). Although humans often regard themselves as the center of the universe, even holding presumptuous contests for themselves called "Mr. Universe" or "Miss Universe," or building places of learning called universities (i.e. "universe cities"), there is coming to earth a true university, an actual Universe City, because earth, according to the plainly-written Word of God, is destined to become the Capital of the Universe (see the Fact Finder question below). And when that happens, the world will truly speak with "one line" (see also The Coming World Dictator).

Israelite Foreshadows of the Universe City to Come

In The Bible, the English word camp, or encampment, is used to translate the Hebrew word pronounced makh-en-eh, and the Greek word pronounced par-em-bole-ay. Both words are generally defined as a temporary place of habitation, in contrast to a city which is intended to be permanent. A camp is temporary, while a city is forever, just as physical life is temporary, while spiritual life is forever.

The Tabernacle During the time of their Wilderness Journey, The Lord gave the Israelites specific instructions on how they were to establish their encampment around The Tabernacle In The Wilderness, all of which was merely a prototype of what is coming when Christ returns:

"And The Lord [see YHVH, Adonai, Jehovah, LORD] spake unto Moses [see also The Education Of Moses] and unto Aaron, saying, very man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign [see Ensigns] of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch." (Numbers 2:1-2 KJV)

A Future "Camp Of The Saints," and the New Jerusalem

The "camp of the saints," figuratively a "Tent City," will be established at The Return Of Jesus Christ. It will be replaced by the permanent city, the New Jerusalem, after the world has first been completely conquered by Jesus Christ, and then purified by being flooded with fire, just as the world was once purified by being flooded with water.

The "Camp Of The Saints, The Beloved City" that will exist through the 1,000 years after Christ's return and which will exist at the time of the final Judgment:

The Mountain

"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [see The Spirit of Antichrist] are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged [see When Will You Be Judged?] out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:7-15 KJV)

Then, The Whole Earth Will Be Purified With Fire:

Earth Flooded With Fire

"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire [see Hydrogen] against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day [see also How Old Is God?]. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

"Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." (2 Peter 3:3-13 KJV)

Then, The New Jerusalem. After all has been completed by the Son of God, God the Father is coming to earth:

The New Jerusalem

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the Tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

"And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."

"And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh [see The Decalogue] shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:1-8 KJV)
