How To Please God
by Wayne Blank
"As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live"
God isn't like humans. To God, your call, or rather, your calling, truly is important. You, as an individual are important to God. When you do evil, it makes God unhappy. When you repent and turn to obey Him, it makes God happy. You as an individual can give God joy:
"there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth" (Luke 15:10 KJV)
While some read the verse above as the joy being in the angels, the Scripture actually says "joy in the presence of the angels." Who is in the presence of the angels in heaven? Or rather, in whose Presence are the angels of God?
Perhaps another Scripture makes it plainer. In God's own words, God gets pleasure from every individual sinner that repents:
"Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live" (Ezekiel 33:11 KJV)
You can give God joy, not because you would be doing Him any big favor, but because you would be doing yourself a very big favor. God would much rather grant you glorious eternal life as one of His children (see Children Of God) than cast you alive, kicking and screaming, into the lake of fire on the day of Judgment.
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:12-15 KJV)
The choice is entirely yours. Your fate is in your own hands.
