The Mountains of Abarimby Wayne Blank "Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel" The Israelites' wilderness journey after the Exodus is listed in Numbers 33:1-50. The mountains of Abarim were the last stop before the Promised Land.
"And they departed from the mountains of Abarim, and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho." (Numbers 33:48)
At the end of the wilderness journey (for the reason that a journey that could have been done in 40 days took 40 years, see A Journey Without A Destination) The Lord instructed Moses to go up onto the mountains of Abarim where he would be allowed to see over across the Jordan into the Promised Land, but not enter into it (see Numbers 20:2-12 for why). Knowing that his time of service was over (for back then), Moses then asked The Lord to choose a new leader for Israel, to which The Lord declared that Joshua would succeed Moses.
"And The Lord [see YHVH, Adonai, Jehovah, LORD] said unto Moses [see also The Education Of Moses], Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify Me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin." Fact Finder: (a) What future event will cause another great exodus and gathering of physical Israelites into the land of Israel? (b) What great event at the same time will cause a great gathering of spiritual Israelites?
