The Events of The Last Trump

The return of Jesus Christ will mark the beginning of the Kingdom of God on earth. For the next 1,000 years from that day, the earth will be ruled by Christ and those of His people who were resurrected from the dead or changed to spirit if they were alive that day.

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 KJV)

Although some erroneously interpret the "to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" as quoted above to mean that those of the first resurrection will "go to heaven," the Bible very plainly says that Christ and those of the first resurrection, who endured the tribulations of whenever they lived, including The Great Tribulation at the end, will be on earth from that day on. Satan will be put away, and the world will know true freedom for the first time.

"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished." (Revelation 20:1-5 KJV)

The last trump (i.e. the sound of the last trumpet) will mark the return of Jesus Christ and the first resurrection (see the Fact Finder question below to understand the differences in the times and circumstances of the resurrections).

"This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years." (Revelation 20:5-6 KJV)
