The Destination

A destination may be defined as a "place where something ends." When the Israelites left Egypt in the Exodus, their destination was the land promised, not to them, but to Abraham and his obedient descendants i.e. those of them who were as obedient as Abraham was. Unfortunately, for them, most of the adult Israelites used their freedom to disobey God; for them it then became A Journey Without A Destination. It was a Christian object lesson:

The Exodus

"10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea [see Old Testament Baptisms]; 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." (1 Corinthians 10:1-12 KJV)

"Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted"

Some have been "predestinated" to be given the opportunity to accept The Lord's offer of salvation, a journey that will begin for everyone, sooner or later (see When Will You Be Judged?). It doesn't mean that the "predestinated" have arrived; it means only that they have been given to begin their journey in the time prior to Christ's return, whenever they lived throughout human history. Whether or not they arrive depends on whether or not they make the journey, by their own free choice.

Earth

"1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings [see Spiritual Conception] in heavenly places in Christ: 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world [see Christ The Creator; also How Old Is God?], that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children [see Spiritual Adoption] by Jesus Christ to himself [listen to the Sermon The Divorce and Remarriage of Jesus Christ from our Sermons page], according to the good pleasure of his will, 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood [see Why Blood?], the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted [see Trust], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise [see Spiritual Conception], 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." (Ephesians 1:3-14 KJV)

"Saint" simply means someone who is set apart from the world by seeking to live God's Way, rather than the way of the dead-end carnal world. "Saints" are ordinary people who have begun the journey of The Process Of Conversion (listen also to the Sermons First Day of Unleavened Bread: Beginning The Journey To Salvation and Seventh Day of Unleavened Bread: The Road To Life from our Sermons page).

"1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him [see What Does 'Apocalypse' Really Mean?]: 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead [listen to the Sermon Christ's Passover: The Death And Birth Of The Saviour from our Sermons page], and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places [see What Is Jesus Christ Doing Right Now?], 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet [see The Coming World Dictator], and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." (Ephesians 1:15-23 KJV)
