The Lamb Shall Overcome Them
On November 11 1918, the Armistice was signed to end "The Great War," or "First World War" in Europe. The military technology was primitive by today's standards, but the death toll was not - over 10 million (the majority were unarmed civilians) were killed, at least 20 million were injured or maimed. Like all wars before and since, there was nothing glorious about it. Anyone who thinks that war is like a naive and simplistic "John Wayne movie" (John Wayne, by the way, although a fine actor and a rightfully-respected good man, was never in a real war, or even served in the military) quickly learns how false and foolish that idea is when they find themselves on the ground in a real war. What is portrayed in the movies "All Quiet On The Western Front" of 1930 (Adolf Hitler banned the realistic movie about the First World War; it wasn't viewed in Germany until 1956 after Hitler started and lost the Second World War, in which 55 million, mostly unarmed civilians, were killed) or "Full Metal Jacket" of 1987 (Military Newsman: "How can you shoot women and children?" Helicopter Door Gunner: "Easy, you don't lead 'em so much") are far closer to the savage reality of humans at war.
It's a bizarre irony that "make believe" film makers often portray the reality of war while the "just the facts" news agencies usually heavily censor what they report so as to not offend their viewing audience (and commercial sponsors) or be accused of being "unpatriotic" for telling people the truth.
"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings"
The good news (Gospel literally means good news) is that war is going to end and "Remembrance Day" will truly be about wars of the past, not merely remembering wars of the past while more wars are happening. People are going to be able to live in peace because all of the world will truly be at peace, after Christ defeats the war makers, because unfortunately, rather than surrendering to Him when He returns, the world will foolishly even attempt to make war with Him.
"17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful." (Revelation 17:14 KJV)
The peace that the world will know under the rule of Christ will be forever.
"4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Micah 4:1-4 KJV)
Fact Finder: The good news is that Christ, not those who killed them, will have the final Word on all of those who have been killed in war. When will they live again?
