A Year Of Enlightenment

New Year's Day (on the Roman calendar that is commonly used around the world) is a time that many people promise themselves a "new year's resolution" - to do something for themselves and/or for others that will make their lives a better experience. The promise often involves the stopping of some bad habit i.e. to end something rather than to begin something. Such efforts sometimes are not successful because of a stressful void that is created when something is ended. Very often, successfully ending a bad habit is accomplished by replacing it with a good habit, something that provides much more satisfaction than the bad habit did.

Comfort and Joy From The Word of God

Hundreds of millions of people own Holy Bibles, but have not read them. Perhaps millions people have read the Bible in its entirely, but came away confused because they did their reading without a key guide - first and foremost The Holy Spirit of God which will come, not when someone decides to read the Bible, but when they decide to live by it. Growing In The Grace And Knowledge of God's Word comes not merely from knowing, but from doing.

The Holy Bible

"1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise" (Ephesians 1:13 KJV)

The Word of God is not a "crutch" to protect people from bad habits. The Word of God shows us how foolish and repulsive bad habits are - and when that is recognized, overcoming becomes much easier.

"17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17 KJV)

"4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God" (2 Corinthians 4:2 KJV)

"6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left" (2 Corinthians 6:7 KJV)

"2:12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." (1 Thessalonians 2:12-13 KJV)

Fact Finder: This year, read the Word of God, all of it, for yourself, for the first time. If you have already read it, read it again for the first time because what is learned in a previous reading makes every subsequent reading a first reading of greater understanding. Our 1 Year Holy Bible Reading Plan has a complete daily schedule and extensive study notes.
