Life or Death, Blessing or Cursing
The LORD was the Creator (see Christ The Creator) of life and the freedom to choose how to live it. It was that liberty that permitted righteous and obedient Lucifer to choose to become arrogant (Satan was the creator of arrogance) and putrid Satan.
"28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
"I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life"
Unlike Satan and the foolish angels that became rebels along with him, all of whom are going to spend eternity caged in lightless pits ("1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever" Jude 1:13 KJV), humans who refuse their chance to obey God will simply be obliterated. Their physical bodies will first be incinerated (see They Shall Be Ashes) and then even the memory of them will be erased ("65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind" Isaiah 65:17 KJV).
Salvation is a choice that must be made, sooner, or later (for when, see the Fact Finder question below). The experience of the ancient Israelites was an object lesson of salvation.
"30:11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. 30:12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 30:13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 30:14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
