David's Prophecies Of The Christ
King David is most-often thought of as a shepherd, then a warrior, then a king - all of which he was. But through all of his life, David was also a musician and composer of songs. In English-language translations of the Word of God, the "Psalms" take their name from psaltery, a stringed musical instrument. David was the composer of many of the Psalms, which were musical in nature.
"71:22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel" (Psalm 71:22 KJV)
Prophecies Of The Christ
David, through many of the Psalms that he wrote, was also a prophet. He was given to see the coming Messiah, even "witnessing" His crucifixion through Christ's own eyes:
"22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 22:17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture." (Psalm 22:16-18 KJV)
Some of the many other prophecies of Christ that David wrote in his music:
"2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." (Psalm 2:7-9 KJV; see The Coming World Dictator)
Fact Finder: How does the Israelite monarchy, that was established in the time of King David, flow to the time that the Messiah ("the son of David") will reign over all the earth?
