Sealed Till The Time Of The End

Much of the Holy Bible is Prophecy. Some was fulfilled, in whole or in part, not long after the prophecy was delivered. But more often than not, prophecy involves circumstances and events that haven't even yet happened in our time, including most of the prophecies recorded in the so-called "Old" Testament in which sometimes even the prophet himself was not given to understand the prophecies that he was given to deliver because the events described involve the "time of the end" e.g. "12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end" (Daniel 12:8-9 KJV).

"For the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end"

The greatest stumbling block to understanding the Holy Scriptures (after the Holy Spirit has been given so that they can be understood) is human nature, the tendency of people to turn the "window" of God's Word into a "mirror" of themselves - which provides not only a very limited "vision" of only one's self, but an inaccurate view because mirror images are reversed and distorted (see Reflections Of The Word). Those who misuse the Scriptures in that way blind themselves to prophecy rather than learning and being warned of what is truly coming from it.

The Holy Scriptures

"2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2:17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some [see Resurrections]. 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified [see Sanctify], and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of A Pure Heart. 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth [see The Cure For The Carnal Mind]; 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." (2 Timothy 2:14-26 KJV)

After explaining how to properly use prophecy, Paul's letter (see Epistles) to Timothy, which was actually a letter to the end-time Church of God ("in the last days") continued on with what Christ's people need to be aware of in order to best be able to defend themselves from the effects of it.

"3:1 This know also, that in the last days [see also The End Of The World?] perilous times shall come. 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves [see also Sodomites], covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded [see High Places of The Mind], lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses [see also The Education Of Moses and Why Did Christ Put Moses To Death?], so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, Reprobate concerning the faith. 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was." (2 Timothy 3:1-9 KJV)

Fact Finder: Although we know from the Word of God that Christ's return is at least 42 months away (the only time clue provided by the Bible is that Christ's return will occur after the end of the 42-month ministry of His "two witnesses" i.e. when you see the beginning of their miraculous ministry, Christ's return will be 42 months away; see The Last Three Preachers At Christ's Return), why should Christ's people live their lives as if Christ could return immediately?
