The End Of War

The return of Jesus Christ will mark the end of Satan's world and the beginning of the Kingdom of God on earth. That reality is found throughout the prophetic Scriptures e.g. Nebuchadnezzar's Dream:

"^2:32 This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, ^2:33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. ^2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. ^2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth." (Daniel 2:32-35 KJV)

"Nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more"

The fourth chapter of Micah is one of the most beautiful and encouraging, and often quoted, of the Holy Scriptures. It describes the coming world in which the Kingdom of God will begin, under the worldwide rule of Jesus Christ. Zionism, which has always been about Christ, not the people who reject Him as The Messiah, will bring about the famous "^4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. ^4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more" (Micah 4:2-3 KJV).

"^4:1 But in the last days [see The End Of The World?; also The Last 42 Months of Satan's Kingdom] it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

^4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion [see What Did Jesus Christ Say About God's Law?], and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. ^4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. ^4:4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. ^4:5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.

^4:6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her [see The Gatherings To Come] that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; ^4:7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. ^4:8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the Daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

^4:9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in Travail. ^4:10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.

^4:11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. ^4:12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor [see Seasons Of The Harvest; also Baptism Of Fire].

^4:13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth [see Christ The Creator]." (Micah 4:1-13 KJV)

1417: Unity of the Church of Rome's papacy was recovered with the election of Martin V. The Great Western Schism, beginning in 1378, resulted in a pope in Rome, another in Avignon, France and a third established by the Council of Pisa (see The Struggle For The Papacy).

1500: Louis XII of France and Ferdinand of Aragon signed the secret Treaty of Granada for the conquest and partition of Naples.

1572: Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe observed a bright "new star" in Cassiopeia, shining as brightly as Venus. He continued to observe the super nova (a star which has exploded after all of its fuel has been used up) for 18 months as it slowly faded.

1606: A peace treaty was signed at Zeita-Torok between the Turks and Austrians.

1620: The Mayflower Compact was signed by the Pilgrims.

1813: During the War of 1812 (1812-1814), 800 British troops, Canadian militia and natives repelled 4,000 U.S. invaders at The Battle of Chrysler's Farm near Cornwall, Ontario.

1918: The armistice was signed to end The First World War in which over 10 million people were killed (listen to our Sermon The European World Wars).

1953: The polio virus was identified and photographed for the first time.

1971: The U.S. ratified a treaty to return the island of Okinawa to Japan (although the U.S. maintains a large military base there to this day).

1972: The U.S. turned over its large base at Long Binh to the South Vietnamese, symbolizing the end of direct U.S. participation in the Vietnam Civil War.

1973: A cease-fire agreement was signed between Israel and Egypt.

1982: Polish "Solidarity" union leader Lech Walesa was released from 11 months of detention in a state-owned hunting lodge.
