The English word "invade" originated from a compound Latin word, in, meaning enter or into, and vado, meaning to wade (a reference to either that invaders crossed a water boundary or came in from the sea, or that they had to "wade" through the homeland defenders who would not allow invaders to just walk in).
A number of different words of the Holy Scriptures are translated as "invade" or "invasion."
"I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High"
The first invader was Satan when he crossed the boundaries of his assigned responsibilities and attacked the Throne of God - with the intention of making himself the ruler of God's universe.
"28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee." (Ezekiel 28:13-15 KJV)
The result of Satan's failed invasion was that "he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
"12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:7-9 KJV)
"10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." (Luke 10:18 KJV)
Satan did not stop his invasive efforts to rule the universe after that defeat however. Rather than invading and ruling from outside, his tactic is now to invade and rule from within - by deception and influence.
"11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." (2 Corinthians 11:3-4 KJV)
It is that invasion by deception that the end-time Satan-empowered beast will "sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God" - just as Satan attempted to do when he attacked God's Throne in heaven. Satan will however fail again - this time forever (see also How Long Will 'The End Time' Last?).
"2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
