Who Was Never A Child?
Adam and Eve were the first man and the first woman, not the first boy and the first girl. Adam and Eve never experienced life as children.
Adam was created as an adult, who was immediately sent to work in the garden.
"2:7 And the LORD God [see Christ The Creator and 'Before Abraham Was, I AM'] formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul [see Where Is Your Soul?]. 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed." (Genesis 2:7-8 KJV)
Eve was created as an adult, who was immediately a married woman.
"2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed." (Genesis 2:21-25 KJV)
"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage"
While all parents are new to being parents when they first have children, they can at least relate to having been a child themselves. Adam and Eve never did; their children were a new experience for those who were themselves "born" as adults.
"4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground." (Genesis 4:1-2 KJV)
Now that we've answered the question of who was never physically a child, another question. Who will never be a spiritual child? Like Adam and Eve, who will be "born" adult? Answer: everyone who is granted salvation.
As we live our lives as true Christians, we are the conceived, but not yet born, sons and daughters of God (see Conceived Again). On the day of our delivery, our deliverance, we will be born, spiritually, as adults, just as Adam and Eve were born physically, as adults. The first generation will occur on the day of Christ's return, when the dead will be resurrected to spirit, and those of Christ's true Church who are alive that day will be transformed to spirit (see Those Who Won't Sleep).
"4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 KJV)
Fact Finder: Why won't those born as children of God need to worry about having to thereafter "raise children" (see Raising Children) in the way that Adam and Eve did? At that time, will only God will be the Father of those then born? Will everyone then be brothers and sisters?
