The Way To Salvation: Step 1
Salvation is only found directly and personally through Jesus Christ, not any mere man. Christ's true servants teach people to follow Jesus Christ, not to follow any man, or any man's "church." Unity comes from humbly following our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. Division comes from following men (1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? 1 Corinthians 1:12-13 KJV).
"14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6 KJV)
Jesus Christ is the only Head of the true Christian Church. The only "headquarters" of Christ's Church is where Christ resides.
"1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." (Colossians 1:18 KJV)
Jesus Christ plainly said that obedience to God's Law is required for salvation.
"5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-20 KJV)
"If ye love Me, keep My Commandments"
When He said, "14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15 KJV), why did Jesus Christ say "My" Commandments? Answer: Because it was Jesus Christ Who delivered them (the Commandments), after He delivered them (the people) in the Exodus - out of a world where people follow men, into a world where people follow Christ (see The King's Dedication). When those people rejected His Commandments, Christ rejected them.
"10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
The First Commandment:
"20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:2-3 KJV)
The LORD God was sent by the Father to create all things (see Christ The Creator). He created all that exists, including all of the living or lifeless things, or mere ideas (i.e. any political philosophy that one lives by that is contrary to the Word of God, or any science that denies the existence of the Creator of all natural laws of science - see The First Scientist) that humans have made into "gods" - but which in fact are all merely objects created by the Creator.
Only the Creator has the power to be God; looking to anything, or anyone, else for salvation is literally a dead end. That includes anything that is deemed "more important right now" than worship and obedience to the only true God, or worshipping the true God in a manner contrary to His Word.
Many people, when they read the First Commandment's reference to ancient Egypt feel as though it does not apply to them. They do not appreciate that the "out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage" refers not only to the ancient physical Exodus of God's people, but to how God's people are delivered today from slavery to sin, from bondage to carnal-minded men who allow Satan to control and manipulate them (see Is He Out Of Your Mind?). Just as He delivered the physical Israelites, so too the Messiah is the Deliverer of spiritual Israelites, if they obey Him (see The Yoke Of Freedom).
"2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." (2 Timothy 2:25-26 KJV)
"Other gods" have a contagious worthlessness - those who worship worthless gods become worthless in God's sight:
"41:24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you." (Isaiah 41:24 KJV)
Fact Finder: Please read the entire Word of God for yourself. Don't just be told what it says - know for yourself what it says.
