Israel In History and Prophecy: Law Of The LORD
The Law of The LORD Has Always Been The Law Of Jesus Christ
There are numerous myths about the Ten Commandments. The most Satanic one may be the claim that it was God the Father Who gave the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai (rather than "the LORD God"; see Who Is The LORD?) and that Jesus Christ came to "do away" with His Father's Law - thereby making Jesus Christ a traitorous ("deliberately and abominably disloyal or likely to betray trust or confidence") and treasonous ("a crime that undermines the offender's government") rebel, just like Satan, supposedly having accomplished what Satan attempted and failed to do (see Satan's Fall: From Conservative To Liberal). The "grace is lawlessness" doctrine is a Satanic abomination.
Jesus Christ plainly stated that He did not come to "do away" with God's Law - but rather to fulfill and enforce it.
"5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil [see The Church Today, The Church In The End Time and the Fact Finder question below]. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-19 KJV)
"21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl [see Gates Of Pearl]: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
"Blessed are they that do His Commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life" speaks directly about salvation.
"22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be [see Works Means Obedience]. 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
The Messiah didn't come to do away with the Law that He gave to humanity (as we will read from the Bible, the Law of the LORD existed from Creation, not from Mount Sinai). Later, it was Jesus Christ, as "the LORD God," Who brought the Israelites out of Egypt in the Exodus, and it was Jesus Christ who put the rebels to death when they decided to "do away" with God's Law.
"10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ [see Who Is The LORD?].
The Law Of The LORD Originated At Creation, Not At Mount Sinai
All of the Ten Commandments were known to humanity, all humans, as commanded by Jesus Christ (see above), long before there were any Israelites in existence, let alone their arrival at Mount Sinai. The idea that the Ten Commandments were a creation of, or solely for, the Israelites at Mount Sinai is a Bible-denying absurdity.
The First Commandment, against having other "gods" before the LORD, was the basis from which the first humans became sinners. They took the word of "the god of this world" (the fallen Satan, until he is put away) before the Word of the LORD.
"4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not [see Who's Hiding On Your Wall? and The First Rock Star], lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Corinthians 4:3-4 KJV)
Idolatry became rampant very early - including the idolatry of self ("ego"), beginning with Satan's "ye shall be as gods." Further, the ancestors of Israel originated in "Babylon" (see What And Where Is Babylon Today?), from which they brought many of their idols with them i.e. "the strange gods which were in their hand."
"3:4 And the serpent [see Do You Want A Servant Or A Serpent?; also The Dragons Of The Bible] said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:4-5 KJV)
Taking the Name of the LORD in vain happens in two ways - common profanity, and selfish religion e.g. claiming to be a Christian, while denying and opposing Christ's actual teachings ("7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" Matthew 7:21-23 KJV).
As we will cover further in this series, "Israel" (the "El" is a Name of God) had a purpose - an object lesson prophecy of the coming Kingdom of God (see the Fact Finder question below). When the Israelites failed to live according to the purpose of their calling, they were taking the Name of God, in Israel, in vain.
"16:13 And she [see A Biography Of Abraham: Hagar And Ishmael] called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?" (Genesis 16:13 KJV)
The Sabbath was Created, by the LORD (Who was and is Jesus Christ; see Who Is The LORD?), at Creation.
"2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made [see When Is The LORD's Day? and Why Observe The True Sabbath?]." (Genesis 2:1-3 KJV)
The gathering of manna, prior to the Israelites receiving the Ten Commandments. was a lesson in how to keep the Sabbath of the LORD - "My Commandments and My Laws" that already existed. They weren't keeping "their" law, they were to keep God's Law.
"16:22 And it came to pass, that on the sixth day [see The Sixth Day] they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
Honoring "parents" was known from the Garden of Eden. The incident with Noah and Canaan shows how serious dishonoring a parent (which includes all ancestors) was regarded i.e. "Cursed be Canaan."
"9:20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: 9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
Murder as a violation of God's Law was known from the time of the Garden of Eden (the first humans were thrown out of the Garden for putting another "god" before the LORD, idolatry, coveting and theft; their son thereafter became the first human murderer. By the time of the Flood, the Earth was filled with such violence.
"4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him." (Genesis 4:8 KJV)
The sanctity of marriage was known right from the time of the first marriage (see Brides From Their Sides). Notice that centuries later, but still centuries before Mount Sinai, the Israelite patriarch Joseph called adultery a "great wickedness, and sin against God."
"39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me [see Was Her Name Zuleikha?].
Theft began in the Garden of Eden; humans became sinners because of it.
"3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree [see Herbs Of The Garden], whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Liars originated in the Garden of Eden also. Their teacher was Satan, with his "Ye shall not surely die."
"3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden [see The Garden In Eden], God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Coveting also originated in the Garden of Eden; it was followed by theft.
"3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." (Genesis 3:6 KJV)
The Ten Commandments At Mount Sinai
So then it was that the Israelites, as a prophetic portrayal of salvation and the Kingdom of God ("ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation"; see the Fact Finder question below) were given the Law of the LORD, that has existed since Creation (in the case of the Sabbath), and for eternity, as a matter of the purity of righteousness of God, at Mount Sinai.
"19:1 In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. 19:2 For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
"20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
