"The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the Commandments of God, and have the Testimony of Jesus Christ"

Unlike "the great harlot" apostate church that became unfaithful to the genuine teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ (Revelation 17:1-18), the true Church of God is described as a "woman" and "the bride of Christ" (see the Fact Finder question below) because it is of those people (see Can You See The Church?) that the children of God will be "born again" (see What Was The Lesson Of John 3:16?).

Ever since the Garden of Eden, the pervert Satan has stalked the Church of God (see The Church In The Garden and the Fact Finder question below).

Milk and Honey

"12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon [see The Dragons Of The Bible], having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world [see Who's Hiding On Your Wall?]: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time [see Sending Away The Escapades Goat]." (Revelation 12:1-12 KJV)

Satan detests the Church of God, the people of God, because they "keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." Satan is the originator of the abominable false doctrine that "God's Law is done away" (see Satan's Fall: From Conservative To Liberal).

"12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God [see Christ Died For Repentant Sinners], and have the testimony of Jesus Christ [see What Does Word of God Mean To You?]." (Revelation 12:13-17 KJV)

"The elder unto the elect lady and her children"

John's second epistle is a general letter addressed to "the elect lady and her children," the Church of God, as explained above.

Training Grape Vines

"1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

1:2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us [see Written In The Heart Of Our Tabernacles], and shall be with us for ever.

1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ [see Who Is The LORD?], the Son of the Father, in truth and love." (2 John 1:1-3 KJV)

The reason that John addressed them in that way is because "I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father." A true Christian church is not an invention of men and women merely looking to idolize their own egotistic ideas that they presume to call "Christian."

"1:4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments [see Works Means Obedience]. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it." (2 John 1:4-6 KJV)

The greatest threat to true Christians are not atheists or people of other religions, but rather those who teach false Christianity (see The Messiah's Warning About Christian Charlatans). The ultimate "antichrist" will claim to be a Christian.

"1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist [see What Is The Mark Of The Beast?]. 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." (2 John 1:7-11 KJV)

John ended the letter with a greeting from the people, the church, the "woman," that were with him: the "children of thy elect sister greet thee."

"1:12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

1:13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen." (2 John 1:12-13 KJV)
