Job 18: What Is Satan's Real Name?
"Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy Brightness"
The super-loser now known as Satan was created as a righteous winner. He is first recorded in the Holy Scriptures as such by the Hebrew name, pronounced hay-luh-ale, which means Brightness. The name "Lucifer" was a much-later Latin term, meaning light bringer, that was used to translate the actual Hebrew name.
Ironically, matches were (and still are in some places) known as "Lucifers," that is, light bringers (i.e. the common term "Got a light"?) - with (usually) no intention of referring to the Devil. Ironically though, the word "match" originated from an Old French word, meche, that referred to a wick of a candle - the word wick and wicked originated from the same word that meant twisted (see also What Does Wicked Mean?).
"28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee." (Ezekiel 28:13-17 KJV)
Hay-luh-ale perverted his freedom to become an arrogant liberal rebel (see Satan's Fall: From Conservative To Liberal) with an evil mouth - and is now known as such. "Satan" is from the Hebrew word, pronounced saw-tawn, which means blasphemer, or accuser (see Satan's Calling).
"14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit." (Isaiah 14:12-15 KJV)
The Holy Scriptures do not say that Satan lost his brightness when he became evil. He is still an "angel of light." They do say however that Satan now misuses his brightness to lead people away from the Light, toward the moral darkness of evil behavior and ignorance ("ignorance" means to ignore) of Truth (see the Fact Finder question below).
"11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." (2 Corinthians 11:13-15 KJV)
Job's three friends presumed that Job was being attacked by the LORD for doing evil, but the reality was that Job was being attacked by Satan for being righteous. Their correct "Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine" ignored which Light was being focused on Job (see Innocent Until Proven Guilty). They were oblivious that at the heart of Job's "tabernacle" (see What Was In The Heart Of Job's Tabernacle? was a righteous man who was being burned by an evil light.
"18:1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
Fact Finder: How does Satan now use brightness to mislead people away from the True Light?
This Day In History, October 28
97: Roman Emperor Nerva was forced by the Praetorian Guard (the Emperor's bodyguards) to adopt General Marcus Ulpius Trajanus as his heir and successor (see The Politics Of Rome and A History Of Jerusalem: Pompey And The Caesars).
306: Maxentius was proclaimed Roman Emperor.
312: Over the previous 24 hours, the Battle of Mulvian (or Milvian) Bridge over the Tiber River near Rome was fought. Constantine the Great defeated the forces of Maxentius to become the sole ruler of the western Roman empire. Prior to the battle, Constantine claimed to have seen a vision of a cross (Christ was not crucified on a Latin cross - see The Cross Of Christ, Or The Cross Of Men?) in the sky with the words "In Hoc Signo Vinces" ("In this sign conquer"). After the victory, he nominally converted to Christianity, and was largely involved in the Romans' change from God's true and only Sabbath to the old Babylonian pagan "sun day" (see Constantine's Crusades In History And Prophecy and Why Observe The True Sabbath?).
900: King Alfred the Great of England died.
969: After a prolonged siege, Byzantine forces ended 300 years of Arab rule in Antioch.
1216: King Henry III of England was crowned.
1420: Beijing was officially designated as the capital of China's Ming Dynasty.
1492: Christopher Columbus claimed Cuba for Spain. Contrary to propaganda myths, Columbus, an Italian, who was working for the king and queen of Spain, claimed land in the "new world" as colonies of the "old world" - Columbus had no intention of those lands ever being anything more than colonies of Spain. Nor was Columbus the first to discover the continent of North America; the Vikings of Scandinavia left behind physical proof of their being there centuries before Columbus (see also Thanksgiving In History and Prophecy).
1628: After being besieged for months the Huguenots at La Rochelle capitulated to troops of the French crown under Cardinal Michelieu.
1636: English colonists of the Massachusetts Bay Colony founded a college at Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is known today as Harvard University.
1664: The Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot, later to be known as the Royal Marines, was established.
1746: The Peruvian cities of Lima and Callao were destroyed by an earthquake, at least 18,000 killed.
1870: In the Franco-Prussian War, Strasbourg surrendered to Prussian forces.
1886: The Statue of Liberty was dedicated by President Grover Cleveland. While most are aware that it was a gift from the Roman-Catholic people and government of France, very few are aware that the Statue of Liberty was a deliberate, as stated by its builders, reproduction of the ancient Roman goddess Libertas, idol-worshipping Rome's "goddess of freedom." A 2,000 year-old Roman coin from 42 BC, from the era of the birth of the Roman Empire, seen below, shows Libertas (including the idol's name, the Latin Libertas, in English meaning "Lady Liberty" right on the coin); the face and the crown are identical to the Statue of Liberty.
1891: An earthquake struck the Niphon Islands in Japan, killed 10,000 people and left 300,000 homeless.
1918: The Czechoslovak state came into being when the Prague national committee took over land upon the dissolution of Austria-Hungary.
1922: Fascist "Blackshirts" began a march on Rome which led 2 days later to a formation of an Italian government under Benito Mussolini.
1948: The modern-day national flag of "Israel" was adopted (see Israel In History and Prophecy: Israel Of Judah).
1958: Cardinal Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, patriarch of Venice, was elected as Pope John XXIII.
1971: By a vote of 356-244 the British House of Commons voted to join the European Economic Community, the forerunner of the end-time European Union (see The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation).
1985: Sandinista rebel Daniel Ortega became President of Nicaragua.
2007: Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner became the first woman to be elected President of Argentina.
