Psalm 92: Before Abraham Was, I AM

"For by Him were all things created ... He is the Head of the body, the church ... having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself"

The "Word of God," Who was "the LORD God" of the Exodus, was born as the man known as Jesus of Nazareth. The historic record of the Holy Scriptures clearly document it. The Messiah also plainly stated it.

"8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." (John 8:57-58 KJV; see also the study series for Abraham, beginning with A Biography Of Abraham: The Genealogy Of Abram).

The "I AM" that He spoke to the people that day was also spoken by Him to Moses (see also Israel In History and Prophecy: Moses and When Will The LORD Let You See His Face?).

Abraham

"1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ... 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:1-2,14 KJV)

"3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." (Exodus 3:14-15 KJV)

"10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." (1 Corinthians 10:1-4 KJV)

The Father sent the LORD God to do the actual Work of Creation (see The Kingdom Of The LORD God and The Christian Universe). When the Work was completed, the LORD, Who was later born as Jesus Christ, created His one and only Christian Sabbath Day (see The Christian Work Days, The Christian Sabbath).

"2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:1-3 KJV)

True Christians have known and understood that the LORD God, Who was born as Jesus Christ, was the One sent to do the Work. Anyone who reads and respects the Word of God (dual meaning intended; see What Does Word of God Mean To You?) knows that simple fact: "For by Him were all things created ... He is the Head of the body, the church ... having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself."

"1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven." (Colossians 1:12-20 KJV)

While any or all of the Psalms are appropriate for the LORD's Sabbath Day (see Why Observe The True Sabbath?), Psalm 92 is prefaced as "A Psalm or Song for the Sabbath day."

"92:1 A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 92:2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 92:3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

92:4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. 92:5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. 92:6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. 92:7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

92:8 But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.

92:9 For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 92:10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. 92:11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 92:13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 92:14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 92:15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him." (Psalm 92:1-15 KJV)

This Day In History, February 22

705: Empress Wu Zetian abdicated the throne of China, thereby restoring the Tang Dynasty (see also Gog and Magog).

896: Germanic King Arnulf was crowned Emperor by Pope Formosus, who later declared Lambert deposed (see also The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation).

China 1349: Jews (see also Jews - Three Tribes and Three Meanings) were expelled from Zurich, Switzerland.

1370: Robert II succeeded his uncle, David II, as King of Scotland, beginning the Stuart dynasty.

1512: Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci died at age 61. "America" (i.e. the continents of North America and South America where numerous American nations exist, from the northern border of Canada, to the southern tip of Argentina) was derived from his first name. In reality, no single nation is America - imagine if, for example, the people of Germany called themselves the Europeans, or if they claimed that Germany alone was Europe. See also Thanksgiving In History and Prophecy for the maps of the voyages of Christopher Columbus who actually only "discovered" the islands of the Caribbean Sea.

1630: Native Americans (who were called "Indians" by early European explorers who thought that they had arrived in India) introduced popcorn to British colonists in North America.

1632: Galileo's Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems was published. Galileo correctly believed that the Earth orbits the sun - which nearly got him executed by the Church of Rome that incorrectly taught that the sun orbits the Earth.

1797: The last invasion of Britain occurred when 1,500 French troops landed at Fishguard, in Wales.

1825: Britain and Russia established the Alaska-Canada boundary. The U.S. purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867.

1862: In Richmond, Virginia, Jefferson Davis was inaugurated as President of the breakaway "Confederate States of America."

1911: The Parliament of Canada voted to keep Canada as a member state within the union of the British Empire (later known as the British Commonwealth).

1913: Francisco Madero, revolutionary President of Mexico, was assassinated by the military, along with Vice-President Pino Suarez.

1958: Egypt and Syria joined to form the short-lived United Arab Republic (Bible prophecy does plainly describes a united Arab confederation, in the past, and in the yet future - see Constantine's Crusades In History And Prophecy).

1979: The Caribbean island of Saint Lucia gained full independence from Britain after 165 years. It became the 40th member state of the British Commonwealth.

1980: Israel introduced its new currency, the shekel. It replaced the Israeli pound (see also Israel In History and Prophecy: Israel Of Judah).

1984: The U.S. and Britain sent warships to the Persian Gulf in support of the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein following an Iranian offensive against Iraq. At the time, Saddam Hussein was viewed as an ally of the western democracies, despite the atrocities and war crimes that he was committing then, no different than he was later when he had gone from being a pro-western "good dictator" to an anti-western "bad dictator."

1997: Scientists in Scotland announced that an adult sheep named Dolly had been successfully cloned.
