Ezekiel 47: The Healing Waters Of Body And Spirit

"And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea ... And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and His Name one"

Despite His great Spirit-given wisdom in his youth (see Solomon's Wise Years), King Solomon became a very Earthy-minded man. He brought himself to experience only the physical aspect of "living waters" - which are good in themselves, but not an end in or of itself, as Solomon made them to be. Paradoxically, he described the greater meaning while limiting himself to the writing of the physical meaning (see Why Is Song of Solomon In The Holy Bible? and Solomon's Apple Tree)

"4:10 How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices! 4:11 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon. 4:12 A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. 4:13 Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard, 4:14 Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices: 4:15 A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon. 4:16 Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits." (Song of Solomon 4:10-16 KJV)

Along with the LORD's physical blessings to those who truly obeyed Him (the principle is in effect as much now as at any time), there was always the greater meaning of "living waters" - the life-giving flow of the Holy Spirit for those who avail themselves of its source. Notice however that, as the people of Israel and Judah inflicted upon themselves (and were destroyed because of it), it is a double condemnation - the first is to turn away from The Way, and the second is to replace it with "broken cisterns, that can hold no water" (which is what both the creators of "Judaism" and the man-made perversions of Christianity have done; see Why Call Me, Lord, Lord, and Do Not The Things Which I Say?, Israel In History and Prophecy: Judaism and A History Of Jerusalem: Constantine and Muhammad).

A River Waterfall

"2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water." (Jeremiah 2:13 KJV)

The true prophets of the LORD (see The Identity Of The LORD God and The LORD God Our Saviour) understood that the healing power of the "living waters" wasn't only a matter of curing physical ailments. It moreover also referred to the healing from the spiritual confusion of those who made "broken cisterns, that can hold no water" (see the Fact Finder question below).

"17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters. 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise." (Jeremiah 17:13-14 KJV)

Zechariah (see Zechariah: He Shall Stand Upon The Mount Of Olives) also plainly described how the "living waters," while being an actual flow of water, will also then begin the cure for the confusion that today rules the world: "The LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and His Name one."

"14:8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one." (Zechariah 14:8-9 KJV)

Ezekiel was given to see the same "living waters" as the other prophets. Like the others, Ezekiel also specified when it will happen - beginning on the day of the Messiah's return (see What Temple Did Ezekiel See? and When Will There Be No More Temples Built In Jerusalem?; also Will The Pearly Gates Ever Be Closed? and When The Prophecy Of Israel Will Be Fulfilled).

"47:1 Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. 47:2 Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

47:3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. 47:4 Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. 47:5 Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. 47:6 And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this?

Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. 47:7 Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. 47:8 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. 47:9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. 47:10 And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 47:11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

47:13 Thus saith the Lord GOD; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions. 47:14 And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.

47:15 And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad; 47:16 Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazarhatticon, which is by the coast of Hauran. 47:17 And the border from the sea shall be Hazarenan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.

47:18 And the east side ye shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.

47:19 And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.

47:20 The west side also shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath. This is the west side.

47:21 So shall ye divide this land unto you according to the tribes of Israel. 47:22 And it shall come to pass, that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel. 47:23 And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give him his inheritance, saith the Lord GOD." (Ezekiel 47:1-23 KJV)

This Day In History, December 10

1508: Pope Julius II, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, Louis XII of France and Ferdinand II of Aragon formed the League of Cambrai to attack Venice (see Emperors and Popes and The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation).

1520: Martin Luther publicly burned Pope Leo X's papal edict, Exsurge Domine, that ordered him to recant his "protestant heresies." The accusation against Luther was fundamentally incorrect; Luther rebelled against the immoral behavior of the Papacy at the time, but he maintained nearly all of the Church of Rome's pagan doctrines, as do the "Protestant" churches to this day (e.g. see Why Observe The True Sabbath? and Why Call Me, Lord, Lord, and Do Not The Things Which I Say?). That's why the LORD refers to the "Protestant" churches as "harlots" too: "17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." (Revelation 17:4-5 KJV). The Church of Rome is the "mother" of all of those harlots, while Luther was the "father" of many of them.

1665: The Royal Netherlands Marine Corps was founded by Michiel de Ruyter. There are presently over 50 countries that have marines, with Russia, China, the U.S., Britain, France, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico and the Philippines with the top 10 largest forces.

1684: Isaac Newton's derivation of Kepler's laws from his theory of gravity, detailed in the paper De motu corporum in gyrum, was read to the Royal Society by Edmund Halley.

1799: France adopted the metre as its official unit of length.

1845: The first pneumatic (inflated with air) tires were patented by British civil engineer Robert Thompson.

1848: Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, nephew of emperor Napoleon, was elected President of France's Second Republic. It was to be short lived - in 1851 Bonaparte staged a coup to restore "the empire."

1865: German-born Leopold I, the first king of the Belgians and a highly influential force in European diplomacy, died. He was known as the "uncle of Europe" - among his many international royal relatives was his niece Queen Victoria of Britain.

1868: The world's first traffic lights, built near London's Parliament Square, began operation.

1896: Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel died. He made much of his fortune from his invention of dynamite and the manufacture of armaments of war in his factories. Ironically (or hypocritically), the "Nobel Peace Prize" is named after him.

1898: The U.S. and Spain signed a treaty to end their war in the Caribbean and the Pacific.

1901: The first transatlantic wireless signal was received at St. John's Newfoundland. Guglielmo Marconi flew a box kite trailing copper wire to a telephone picked up clicking sounds transmitted from 2,000 miles / 3,200 kilometers away in Cornwall, England. Today, the hill from which the kite was flown is called Signal Hill.

1913: The "Mona Lisa" painting was recovered in Florence after having been stolen from the Louvre two years earlier.

1915: The first all-metal plane flew for the first time. Built by German Hugo Junkers, it was known as the "Tin Donkey."

1936: King Edward VIII of Britain abdicated to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson.

1941: Japanese shore-based bombers sank the British battleship Prince of Wales and battle cruiser Repulse.

1982: 119 countries, but not Britain or the U.S., signed the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

1988: A severe earthquake in Armenia killed an estimated 100,000 people.
