Who Is The Real Wild Ass Of Prophecy?
"As actually stated in the Holy Bible, Ishmael became a "wild man" toward other humans, while Israel became a "wild ass" toward the LORD's true Way"
The English-language word "donkey' originated from an adjective form of ancient Anglo-Saxon root words, dun and key, that meant little animal. The generic term however came to be used specifically for the "ass" - "assa" was the Anglo-Saxon word for the male and "assen" was the Anglo-Saxon word for the female.
"Donkey" or "ass" are used in English-language translations of the Holy Bible to translate the Hebrew word, pronounced khawm-ore that meant a male donkey / ass (e.g. "22:3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass" Genesis 22:3 KJV; see also Isaac: Rising From The Ashes) and the Hebrew word, pronounced aw-thone, that meant a female donkey / ass (e.g. "22:23 And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way" Numbers 22:23 KJV; see also Balak and Balaam).
Ishmael, the firstborn son of Abraham, with Hagar (see A Biography Of Abraham: Hagar And Ishmael), has been traditionally regarded as the Biblical "wild ass of a man" because of the statement "he will be a wild man" - although the Scriptures do not actually refer to him as a donkey or an ass. The English-language word "wild" is used to translate the actual Hebrew word, pronounced peh-reh, which simply means, in itself, running wild - in the same way that wild animals, including wild asses, run wild. The Holy Scriptures actually say what the King James Version accurately translates - "he will be a wild man."
"16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
The Holy Bible does however use the term "wild ass" in referring to some people in prophecy. Who are they? Why did the LORD (see A Biography Of Jesus Christ: The LORD God Of Creation) refer to them in that way?
First, consider that the term isn't merely used to refer to wildness. It's used to refer to the proverbial stubborn defiance, the spirit of rebellion, that causes vain people to think and act like a "wild ass." From Job:
"11:11 For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it? 11:12 For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt." (Job 11:11-12 KJV)
The prophet Jeremiah (see A Faithful Winner Among Unrepentant Losers) also used to term "wild ass" in describing the same carnal-minded, lustful thoughts and behaviour of those who make themselves like a "wild ass." And who was he specifically calling a "wild ass" when they became defiant and corrupt toward the true Way of the LORD? Israel and Judah: "A wild ass ... So is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets" and "For according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah."
As actually stated in the Holy Bible, Ishmael became a "wild man" toward other humans, while the Kingdom of Israel (see Israel In History and Prophecy: Israel and Judah) became a "wild ass" toward the LORD's true Way.
"2:24 A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her. 2:25 Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
The photograph above is that of an actual Assyrian wild ass as portrayed on a wall carving that was done in the very same time and place that the "wild ass" tribes of Israel became the "lost tribes" of Israel when they were taken away to Assyia (see the Fact Finder question below). Some of them may actually have seen that very wall carving with their own stubborn, rebellious eyes. They were it.
"8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up. 8:8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure. 8:9 For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers. 8:10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
Fact Finder: How did the Kingdom of Israel make itself into a "wild ass" of a country?
This Day In History
This Day In History, February 18
1229: During the Sixth Crusade (see Constantine's Crusades In History And Prophecy and A History Of Jerusalem: Constantine and Muhammad), "Holy Roman Emperor" (see The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation) Frederick II signed a truce with al-Kamil, thereby regaining Jerusalem.
1248: Imperial forces under Frederick II were defeated at Parma in Italy.
1478: George, the Duke of Clarence, was convicted of treason against his brother Edward IV, and then killed in the Tower of London by being drowned in a wine barrel.
1503: Henry Tudor (later Henry VIII) was made Prince of Wales.

1546: Martin Luther, a monk who became a leader of the Protestant reformation, died at age 62. Despite their "protest," the Protestant churches maintain most of Rome's anti-Biblical doctrines (see Why Call Me, Lord, Lord, and Do Not The Things Which I Say?).
1564: Michelangelo Buonarotti (popularly known simply as "Michelangelo"), Italian painter, sculptor and architect, died.

1967: Robert Oppenheimer died. He was a prominent member of the team of physicists that produced the U.S. atomic bombs that incinerated the civilian populations (the Japanese attack on Pearl harbor was an attack on a military base) of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 (see also Who Would Throw A Nuclear Boomerang?).
The famous U.S. military photograph below shows the 20,000 foot "mushroom cloud" that was produced by the bombing of Hiroshima - a seething holocaust of dust and ashes that included the incinerated remains of about 150,000 men, women and children.
Three days later, a second U.S. atomic bomb destroyed another Japanese city - Nagasaki. The photograph below shows the towering "mushroom cloud" from that bombing - that also included the incinerated remains of over 100,000 men, women and children.
1979: Snow fell in the Sahara Desert in southern Algeria, the only time in recorded history.
1994: Representatives from 135 countries announced at a United Nations environmental conference that greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to stop "global warming."
