Hell Fire - Satan's Door To The Abyss

"And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up"

A quote from the Encyclopedia Britannica about the origin of "Halloween":

"Halloween, in medieval times All Hallows Eve, a holy or hallowed evening observed on October 31, the eve of All Saints Day; in modern times, it is the occasion for pranks and for children requesting treats or threatening tricks."

"In ancient Britain and Ireland, the Celtic festival of Samhain was observed on October 31, the end of summer. The date was also the eve of the new year in both Celtic and Anglo-Saxon times and was the occasion for one of the ancient fire festivals when huge bonfires were set on hilltops to frighten away evil spirits [which, as we will read from the Holy Scriptures below, actually attracts evil spirits].

The date was connected with the return of herds from pasture, and laws and land tenures were renewed. The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on this day, and the autumnal festival acquired sinister significance, with ghosts, witches, hobgoblins, black cats, fairies, and demons of all kinds said to be roaming about. It was the time to placate the supernatural powers controlling the processes of nature.

In addition, Halloween was thought to be the most favorable time for divinations concerning marriage, luck, health and death. It was the only day on which the help of the devil was invoked for such purposes." (Encyclopedia Britannica, 15th Edition, volume 4, page 862)

There has long-been a presumed connection between Satan and "hell fire." That "hell," the LORD's trash fire, will begin burning upon His return (see The Feast Of Trumpets: The Father's Scroll For The Messiah's Return and Why Is The Messiah Going To Return?; also When And Where 'Born Again' Is Really Going To Happen.

But there is a major difference in who will be cast into it, and why - Satan is spirit, he can neither be burned to death, or feel the pain from fire, while physical humans can. Hell fire will last only as long as it's needed to render all physical evil matter into ash (see The Reapers Of The Harvest).

Fire

"19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Revelation 19:20 KJV)

"4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts." (Malachi 4:1-3 KJV)

Satan's torment, and that of the other angels who became rebels with him, will come from his eternal confinement - after he once and for all proves that he will not repent. The "8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? ... 8:31 So the devils besought him... " (Matthew 8:29,31 KJV) refers to immortal spirits, not humans who are dead when they're dead (see What Do The Dead Know?).

"20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." (Revelation 20:10 KJV)

Notice that the antichrist beast and his false prophet will be cast into the lake of fire, while Satan at that time will be cast into the Abyss. Satan will be released from the Abyss 1,000 years later (his last chance to repent), but when he merely uses it to continue his rebellion, he will be cast back into the Abyss ("the bottomless pit") - by going through the fire of hell that will be used to render all unrepentant humans into ash.

At the start of the 1,000 years (see The First 1,000 Years After The Messiah's Return):

"19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Revelation 19:20 KJV)

"20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season." (Revelation 20:1-3 KJV)

At the end of the 1,000 years (see The New Jerusalem):

"20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." (Revelation 20:7-10 KJV)

This Day In History, October 31

475: During the final days of the original Roman Empire, Romulus Augustulus was proclaimed Western Roman Emperor. Over the following centuries, Germany superseded Rome as the prophetic Roman Empire.

A map of the original Roman Empire (see also A History Of Jerusalem: Pompey And The Caesars, A History Of Jerusalem: Hadrian and Simon bar Kokhba and Constantine's Crusades In History And Prophecy):

The Roman Empire

A map of the "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation" (see The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation):

German Empire

1517: Martin Luther nailed his "95 Theses" to the door of the castle church in Wittenberg, Germany - the event that is considered to be the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. Luther was protesting a grossly-immoral pope, not most of the Church of Rome's doctrines - which Luther maintained, as did most of the so-called "Protestant" world today (see Why Call Me, Lord, Lord, and Do Not The Things Which I Say?).

1876: A cyclone caused over 200,000 deaths in India (see The Origin Of Hurricanes, Cyclones and Typhoons).

1914: The Ottoman Empire entered the First World War (1914-1918; see The Assassination That Triggered Two World Wars) against Britain, Russia and France. Jerusalem at the time was under Ottoman (Turkish) control. When the Ottoman Empire was defeated at the end of the war, Jerusalem came under the control of the British (see A History Of Jerusalem: The British Mandate).

1914: During the First World War (1914-1918), Russian troops under General Russki pushed the Germans under Hindenburg back to their original positions, ending the Battle of the Vistula River. The Germans lost 42,000 men (see Russia Or Europe - Who Has Been The Invader?).

1917: During the First World War (1914-1918), British cavalry under General Allenby captured Beersheba from the Ottomans in what became known as the "last successful cavalry charge in history." The British went on to capture Jerusalem a few weeks later, on December 9. Their control of the land of Israel later made possible a Biblically-prophesied event - the creation of the modern state of "Israel" in 1948 (see A History Of Jerusalem: The British Mandate and Israel In History and Prophecy: Israel Of Judah).

The Liberation of Jerusalem

1922: Benito Mussolini, 39, became Prime Minister of Italy. Son of a poor blacksmith, formerly a journalist and schoolmaster, a corporal in the First World War (as was Mussolini's close ally, Adolf Hitler), seriously wounded in 1917, he founded the Fascist Party (see Is Iniquity Liberal Or Conservative? and Why Are Politicians Called Left Or Right?; see also When Do Liberals Become Conservatives?). The Fascists derived their name from the Fasces of Imperial Rome, an axe wrapped in a bundle of elm or birch rods symbolizing unity and power. The Fascist Party also adopted the ancient insignia as its emblem.

Benito Mussolini

1926: Magician Harry Houdini (actual name, Eric Weiss) died of gangrene and peritonitis that developed after his appendix ruptured. He spent much of his life searching for genuine "mediums" and "spiritists" but found only frauds and con-artists (see What Is Sorcery?).

1940: During the Second World War (1939-1945), the Nazi occupation forces in Poland forced all Jews in the city into the Warsaw Ghetto (see also Presidential Quotes On War, Terrorism, Religion).

1961: Russia's "de-Stalinization" program reached a climax when Stalin's body was removed from the mausoleum in Red Square and buried.

1984: Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, was assassinated at her home by two of her bodyguards, who were Sikhs. Nearly 10,000 Sikhs were killed in the riots that followed.

India

1999: On the 482nd anniversary of Martin Luther's nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the castle church, representatives of the Roman Catholic and Lutheran Churches in Augsburg, Germany, signed a declaration to end the dispute that started the Protestant Reformation and led to the Thirty Years War.
