What Is Going To Happen To Those Who Endure To The End?
"Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved"
The English-language word "iniquity" originated from the Latin word, iniquus, that simply meant unequal, or unjust, but was used to describe a complex variety of corrupt attitudes and behavior that, while earlier were regarded as wrong, were later declared to be right because most people chose it. The present world has many examples of iniquity - immoral (i.e. self-destructive) forms of behavior, some of which were serious crimes not long ago, but have now not only become "legal" (in the corrupt eyes of the people of iniquity) but the dominant attitude of society. Iniquity happens when what is wrong becomes "normal."
"Iniquity" is used to translate the Hebrew word, pronounced aw-vone, which means perverse, or perverted. It too is used to describe a situation in which evil and self-destructive foolishness are declared "right" - or a "right."
Iniquity produces more iniquity. If people become corrupt in thought and behavior, they lose the wisdom and "common sense" that prevents them from doing it even more. Iniquity is primarily an assault upon one's self. Iniquity is self-destructive - the way of losers.
There are many Biblical examples of iniquity, political and religious, but all have the same basis - when evil takes control and most people want it that way. Notice that the Flood happened because of iniquity - most people declared that wrong was right ("all flesh had corrupted his way").
"6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth." (Genesis 6:11-12 KJV)
Sodom was destroyed because of iniquity. Most people there saw nothing wrong with heinous sexual assault (of the two angels that appeared as men, or of Lot's daughters that were offered to them) that was everyday "normal" behavior for them. Their police and military force did nothing to stop it, but rather enforced the people's "right" of perversion. Righteous Lot witnessed the "legal" iniquity of the city, while himself becoming under its spell.
"2:8 For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds" (2 Peter 2:8 KJV)
Iniquity happens when what is wrong is made to seem right - including Christianity. Those who declare themselves to be Christian, while ignoring and disobeying the Messiah's Commands, are committing iniquity. If they do not repent, they will hear the Messiah's Judgment of iniquity: "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
"7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
The Messiah's rebuke of the "religious authorities" of His time because of their iniquity was a warning and a rebuke for such people of all time: "So ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity."
"23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
The prophesied "in the last days perilous times shall come" will be caused by iniquity. Wrong will not only be accepted and celebrated by most people, but will be forced and enforced by man's governments of iniquity. At that time (and increasing already now), those who obey the Word of God will be regarded as outcasts and criminals because they don't live "normal" lives of immorality and perversion.
"3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
While the end-time will be the most terrible of all human history, the LORD (see The Identity Of The LORD God and The Christian Ten Commandments) is coming to restore all good things. On that day, iniquity will be obliterated and those who truly follow Him will be delivered. Those who are now hypocritically "offended" by anything right (the basis of iniquity), while claiming the right to be as offensive as they want to be to others, will receive the correction that they need.
"24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
The prophets were sent to preach against iniquity, while at the same time knowing the fate of those who refuse to repent of it.
"130:1 A Song of degrees.
Fact Finder: What is the cure for iniquity?
This Day In History, March 16
597 BC: An estimated Roman date equivalent (from Adar 2) when the Babylonians captured Jerusalem and replaced Jehoiachin with Zedekiah as king of Judah (see Jehoiachin Of Judah and Zedekiah Of Judah; also A History Of Jerusalem: The Capital Of Judah and A History Of Jerusalem: Ezra And Nehemiah).
37: Roman Emperor Tiberius died. He was the Emperor (see Pax Romana: The Birth Of The Roman Empire and The Politics Of Rome) at the time of Jesus Christ's crucifixion (see A History Of Jerusalem: The Coming Of The Messiah, A History Of Jerusalem: Pompey And The Caesars and Whatever Happened To Those Romans?). Tiberius was succeeded by Caligula.
1190: "Christian" Crusaders massacred Jews in York, England (see Constantine's Crusades In History And Prophecy).
1521: Ferdinand Magellan sighted the Philippines (it wasn't a "discovery" to the people who lived there).
1660: The British "Long Parliament of the Puritans" ended after 20 years. The new Convention Parliament followed.
1815: Willem I was proclaimed king of the Netherlands.
1851: Spanish authorities concluded a concordat with the Vatican under which Roman Catholicism became the only authorized faith in Spain. It also gave control of education and the press to the Catholic Church.
1889: Off Samoa in the Southern Pacific, a severe hurricane destroyed 6 warships (3 U.S., 3 German); only the British Calliope escaped.
1907: The British Invincible, then the world's largest cruiser, was completed at the Glasgow shipyards.

1933: The German Reichstag adopted the Enabling Act, which effectively granted Adolf Hitler dictatorial legislative powers (see Why Does Satan Love Liars? and Is Iniquity Liberal Or Conservative?; see also The Terrorist Attack That Enabled Hitler To Become A Dictator and What Did A Father Of Democracy Predict About It?).
1935: Adolf Hitler renounced the disarmament clauses in the Versailles Treaty and introduced conscription in Germany (see Presidential Quotes On War, Terrorism, Religion).

1968: The "My Lai Massacre" of about 500 civilians, mostly women, old men, and children (the younger men had left to work in the fields or at sea), by U.S. troops in Vietnam. The atrocity was not discovered in the U.S. until 18 months later, when it set off a firestorm of disgust and outrage around the world. In 1971, to appease public protest, Lt. William Calley, one of the officers who oversaw the murders, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison, but very little time was actually served before the "war hero" was quietly released.

He was the bombardier of the Enola Gay when it dropped the U.S. atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6 1945, killing over 130,000 men, women, children and babies - and horribly burning tens of thousands more. For the remainder of his life, Ferebee publicly maintained that the bombing was "the right thing to do," while also stating "I think we should realize that this can't happen again" (see also Who Would Throw A Nuclear Boomerang?),
2005: Israel officially surrendered Jericho to "Palestinian" control (see Where Is Palestine?).
