The Three Fathers Of Humanity: Japheth

"The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras"

Japheth, from the Hebrew word pronounced yeh-feth, was one of the three sons of Noah. While some debate which son was the actual firstborn of Noah and his wife (i.e. Genesis 10:21 is variously translated as either "Shem, whose older brother was Japheth" or "Shem, the older brother of Japheth"), they are always listed in the historic record as "Shem, Ham and Japheth" - the customary manner of listing sons by order of birth.

"5:32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth." (Genesis 5:1-32 KJV)

"6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 6:10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth." (Genesis 6:9-10 KJV)

"7:13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark" (Genesis 7:13 KJV)

As with Shem (see The Three Fathers Of Humanity: Shem) and Ham (see The Three Fathers Of Humanity: Ham), all of humanity began again from Japheth's descendants i.e. one-third of humanity originated with Japheth as their forefather, however considering the lands to the north and east where they settled and formed the very populous Asiatic nations of today (the descendants of Japheth were also the first "Americans" - see the Fact Finder question below), more of present-day humanity are descendants of Japheth than Shem and Ham.

Humanity was created in Asia (Iraq) and spread across the Middle East to Africa. The last to be settled was the cold wilderness of Europe, with the "white" Nordic races of northern Europe developing last.

The World After The Flood

The nations of Japheth after the Flood:

Gog and Magog

"10:1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. 10:2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

10:3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

10:4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

10:5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations." (Genesis 10:1-5 KJV)

Of all of Japheth's descendants, those of Magog ("Gog, the land of Magog") are most-prominent in history (the illustration at right is a historic account of Alexander building defensive walls against Magog centuries ago) and yet-future prophecy, as recorded by Ezekiel:

"38:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 38:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya [see also Libya In History And Prophecy] with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 38:6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

38:7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. 38:8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. 38:9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

38:10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 38:11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 38:12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land. 38:13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?" (Ezekiel 38:1-13 KJV)

"Gog (the territory) and Magog (the people)" will face the wrath of the LORD at the time when the LORD is Israel's sole defender - a time when they, and the rest of repentant humanity (see What Happens After The Messiah Returns?) will have beat their "swords into plowshares."

Gog and Magog

"38:14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? 38:15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: 38:16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

38:17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel [see Israel In History and Prophecy: The Prophets], which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? 38:18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. 38:19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; 38:20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. 38:21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother. 38:22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 38:23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD." (Ezekiel 38:14-23 KJV)

Fact Finder: Were the descendants of Japheth the first "Americans" too? Where did the native Americans originate, and how did they get from Asia to North America?

This Day In History, April 17

69: Vitellius became Roman Emperor after the First Battle of Bedriacum (see The Roman Emperors: Vitellius).

Vitellius

1080: King Harald III of Denmark died. He was succeeded by Canute IV.

1194: The second coronation of England's King Richard I, after his return from the Third Crusade (see Emperor Constantine's Sun Dogs and Constantine's Crusades In History And Prophecy and A History Of Jerusalem: Constantine and Muhammad).

1421: The sea breached the dikes at Dort in the Netherlands. More than 100,000 people were killed.

1492: Christopher Columbus and a representative of Spain's King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella (Ferdinand and Isabella were the parents of Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of King Henry VIII of England) signed a contract giving Columbus a commission to seek a westward ocean passage to Asia (see Thanksgiving In History and Prophecy and the map below to understand what part of "America" that Columbus actually discovered).

The same year, Ferdinand and Isabella ordered the expulsion of all Jews from Spain. Ferdinand and Isabella were also responsible for the horrendous "Spanish Inquisition" in which many people all across Europe were tortured (the CIA's "waterboarding" torture was actually invented during the Spanish Inquisition for use against Jews and Bible-believing Christians) and killed for not allowing themselves to be subjected to the doctrines of the Church of Rome.

1521: Martin Luther was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church. While Luther rejected the leadership of the papacy because of the pope's immoral and unethical behavior, Luther's "protest" did not include most of the Church of Rome's actual antichrist doctrines (e.g. see Why Observe The True Sabbath?). Luther, and most of the "Protestant churches" of today, remain Roman Catholic in doctrine (see Antichristians).

1555: The city of Siena surrendered to Philip of Spain after a lengthy famine. He later sold Siena to Cosimo de Medici.

1610: Henry Hudson sailed from London, England; among his discoveries (to Europeans; the native people who were there already knew it) included what would later be known as Hudson Strait.

1793: The Battle of Warsaw.

1808: The Bayonne Decree by Napoleon Bonaparte ordered the seizure of U.S. ships.

France had hypocritically supported the rebellion of the New England colonies against their builders and investors in England, while at the same time tolerating no independence efforts in any of the French colonies in Louisiana or elsewhere throughout the continent of North America. France merely wanted the New England colonies separated from England so that the French Empire could themselves take them over.

Only a small part of England's military forces were involved in the New England colonial rebellion - most were fighting the French Empire all across Europe at the time. The primary reason that the French Empire didn't attack the New England colonies before their revolution was because they were protected by England's military, while, ironically, the only reason that the French Empire didn't attack the New England colonies after their revolution was because England defeated the French Empire in Europe, culminated by the famous Battle of Waterloo from which Napoleon fell from power.

None of that historic reality is taught in school children's propaganda ("history") books however.

New France

Battle of Waterloo

1864: During the Schleswig Holstein-Prussian War, Prussian forces under Prince Frederick Charles attacked the fortress at Dueppel.

1895: The Treaty of Shimonoseki ended the Sino-Japanese War. China and Japan recognized Korean independence and China gave up Formosa to Japan (see also Why Was Korea Divided Into North And South?).

1916: Sirimavo Bandaranaike, Sri Lankan stateswoman, was born. In July 1960, she became the world's first woman prime minister.

1941: The entire Yugoslav army and government surrendered to the Germans in Belgrade (see also The Assassination That Triggered Two World Wars).

1946: Syria became independent from France.

1961: The CIA and Mafia (the Cuba scenes in the "Godfather" movies are historically correct) backed "Bay of Pigs" invasion of Cuba. The 3-day fiasco left 100 killed and more than 1,000 invaders captured.

Cuba

1969: Sirhan Sirhan, a Palestinian-born Arab, was found guilty of the assassination of U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Robert Kennedy.

1970: Apollo 13 returned to earth after an oxygen tank explosion caused the moon-landing mission to be aborted and the near-loss of the crew.

1975: Phnompenh fell to the Khmer Rouge, the Cambodian communist insurgents, just as North Vietnamese and Vietcong were sweeping south toward Saigon. The communists under Pol Pot (actual name, Saloth Sar) would eventually murder over 2 million Cambodian people - 1/4 of the population.

1989: The Polish trade union Solidarity was legalized after a 7 year ban by the communist government.

1997: Former Israeli President Chaim Herzog died at age 78 (see also A History Of Jerusalem: Zionism).
