Born Again, How and When?
by Wayne Blank
"But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy! Your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead." (Isaiah 26:19 NIV) (see Resurrections)
The Lesson To Nicodemus:
Jesus Christ described "born again" not as a state of mind, but as a literal rebirth as an actual spirit being:
"Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi [see They Never Called Him "Jesus"], we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do see Miracles Of Jesus Christ], unless God is with Him."
When Will The Kingdom Of God Be Established?
The Kingdom of God will be established at the Return of Jesus Christ, at which time the process of humans truly being "born again" (i.e. resurrected, or transformed if alive that day) will begin:
"As you looked, a stone was cut out by no human hand, and it smote the image [see Daniel's Statue] on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces; then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth." (Daniel 2:34-35 RSV)
When And How Will Humans Be Truly Born Again?
The first resurrection, at the Return of Christ:
"For The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet The Lord in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 RSV).
The second resurrection, at the end of the 1,000 years:
"The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended." (Revelation 20:5 RSV)
