Wicca

by Wayne Blank

I recently received an email from a witch, a real live witch, who, by means of one of the Internet search engines found a Bible study that I wrote a few years ago (easy enough to do, with over 2,600 studies now "spidered" by the numerous search engines, I'm increasingly coming across my own earlier studies in the top 10 or 20 search results while occasionally doing research; a strange experience since, ironically, I now personally spend relatively little time on the Internet - although the Daily Bible Study web server is very busy every minute of the day) regarding what the Bible says about witchcraft. She wrote to complain that "your words and the words of the Christian Bible anger me deeply" because "Wiccans are all about nature and worship a goddess and/or horned god."

A "goddess and/or a horned god"? Is that supposed to be a good thing? Or does it sound very foolish?

Nevertheless, her advice to me was "although you probably did it to teach Christians the words of your Bible I appreciate it that you don't do it again" - which virtually guarantees that not only will I do it again, I will do it again and again in the hope that people who are involved in evil witchcraft wake up and repent, if and while they still have time.

What is "Wicca"?

Witch Wicca, or wikke, is an old Anglo-Saxon word that is the origin of two better-known English words, wicked and witch. Those aren't "my words," they are reality.

What the Bible says, and warns, about witchcraft are also not "my words," they are God's Words. Those who choose to ignore or defy the Word of God have only themselves to blame for what God is going to do to them if they do not repent.

What the Word of God, not me, says about witchcraft during Bible History:

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire [see Where Is Hell?], or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto The Lord: and because of these abominations The Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee." (Deuteronomy 18:10-12 KJV)

"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Exodus 22:18 KJV)

"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry." (1 Samuel 15:23 KJV)

Witchcraft is among the numerous forms of grievous evil, that, if unrepented of, will result in the loss of salvation:

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:19-21 KJV)

"Blessed are they that do His Commandments [see The First Commandment
The Second Commandment, The Third Commandment, The Fourth Commandment, The Fifth Commandment, The Sixth Commandment, The Seventh Commandment, The Eighth Commandment, The Ninth Commandment and The Tenth Commandment], that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs [God's term for unrepentant homosexuals], and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." (Revelation 22:14-15 KJV)
