The Chicken or The Egg?
by Wayne Blank
God Invented Science
There has been a tremendous amount of needless disagreement between science and religion, with each side armed with its own "facts" to refute the other. Conflicting people of science and religion need not disagree so often if they would realize that most of their differences are the result of extremism and exclusiveness; barricading themselves into self-declared opposing sides of the same reality. God was God, but He was also a chemist, a physicist, an astronomer, a biologist (see the Fact Finder question below). He was the Lawmaker of all of the unseen forces that make "nature" orderly and predictable - the laws that scientists base their sciences upon.
The universe as it exists was not produced by some cosmic accident or unexplainable "first cause." The conditions of creation were intricately planned and considered. As any terrorist knows, a mindless uncontrolled "big bang" would result in destruction and chaos, not the life and order we now see. On the other hand, a great designed and controlled initial expansion (explosion, or "big bang" as some cosmologists have termed it) of physical matter that had just been transformed (created) from pure energy (from a physical point of view, literally nothing), followed by orderly development (from natural laws put into force beforehand by a Creator) of stars, galaxies and everything else, is reasonable and logical (logic and Logos are derived from the same word - and Word). It satisfies both religion and science.
There are many scientists who say that people who deny their theory of evolution are "stupid" or "superstitious." They say, how can anyone disagree with something that is so obvious? But some of the greatest men of science (not just some people of religion) also once believed and taught that the sun orbited the earth. The proof was just as "obvious" as the "proof" for evolution seems today (apart from the hoaxes that have been exposed over the years e.g. the faked "Pitdown man"). Doesn't the sun rise in the morning, travel across the sky during the day and then set in the west? But it's a powerful illusion that nearly all of the great men of science were deceived by. The sun only appears to move across the sky because the earth is turning beneath our feet. Evolution is also a powerful illusion. The time will come when enlightened people will laugh at those who taught evolution just as much as we today sometimes laugh at those who taught that the sun orbited the earth.
Which brings us to the classic question that is an unanswerable paradox to atheists, but which is easily and logically answered in the Bible: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
God created chickens, then chickens laid eggs. Count on it.
