The Women Who Stood With Him

Although He was a normal human ("in all things it behoved Him to be made like unto His brethren," Hebrews 2:17 KJV) Jesus Christ was unmarried, and was therefore celibate (He was sinless, so no fornication as a single man; John the Baptist, the "Elijah to come," and the original Elijah centuries before, were also apparently both single, see The Elijahs, while most of the apostles, including Peter, and Jesus' brothers (see Mary's Other Children?) were married i.e. 1 Corinthians 9:5). But as the Scriptures plainly record, many women were close friends with Him, many women accompanied Him on His travels during His ministry, women were right there at the Crucifixion, and women were the first to discover His Resurrection. He never talked down to women, He never said anything unequal about women. Jesus Christ, the Word, or Logos, of God, through Whom all things, and all people, were made (John 1:1-3,14) knew that, to God, "man" means a species, not just one of the genders of the species. All were created in the image of God: "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them" (Genesis 1:27 KJV).

"I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God"

Lady When He was crucified, some of the men ran away (The Apostle John didn't) and left Him to His fate (even God left Him, for a few seconds, for a different reason - see Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabachthani?), but the women who had either came with Him from Galilee (e.g. Mary of Magdala) or came to know Him in Judea (e.g. Martha and Mary) courageously stood their ground and faithfully stayed right there with Him to the end. They didn't forsake Him, because they knew that He would never forsake them.

"And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto Him: Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children." (Matthew 27:55-56 KJV)
"Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister [see Aunt Mary?], Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene." (John 19:25 KJV)

Women were the first to discover Christ's Resurrection:

"In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers [see also The Official Coverup] did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (Matthew 28:1-6 KJV)

The first human to speak with the risen Christ was a woman, Mary of Magdala:

"Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto Him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things unto her." (John 20:16-18 KJV)

Fact Finder: (a) Are men and women created in God's own image? Was Eve as much "adam" as Adam was? (b) Is salvation equal to everyone? Does the Word of God plainly state that "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" (KJV)?
