Don't Be Fooled

In the classic movie Treasure Of The Sierra Madre, two unseasoned prospectors who are out in the wilderness at first come upon what they assume is a great discovery - rocks seemingly filled with glittering gold. Their jubilation turns to disappointment when the third member of their party returns and tells them that it's just iron pyrite, also known as "fool's gold," which ironically is often found near true gold. How did the third man know the difference? How did he lead them away from the fool's gold and up the mountain to the true gold? He used more than just his eyes. He used his head. He went "by the book" to discern the truth.

Not All That Glitters Is Gold

The world is on the verge of a time of great public displays of miracles. Some will be done by God's true servants, and some will be done by Satan-empowered false prophets. The true miracles will primarily be done by The Lord's "two witnesses" whose ministry will run for 3½ years, right to the time of The Return Of Jesus Christ.

Holy Bible Although the Scriptures below describe their culminating miracles as being destructive, it is not likely that they will begin that way. It's only because a grossly-deceived world will not only reject their preaching of the true Gospel, but actually try to kill the two witnesses for doing so, that they respond with God-prescribed force to defend themselves i.e. "if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed." (see below).

It may well be that the two witnesses' God-empowered miracles could begin with their walking into hospitals and instantly healing everyone (most of the miracles done by Jesus Christ were of healing, but He was rejected and killed for the same reason that His two witnesses will be, the spirit of antichrist - see also Who Will Be The Antichrist?), perhaps including those in the morgue that day, just as, through the Holy Spirit, Paul raised the dead (Acts 20:9-12), Peter raised the dead (Acts 9:36-41), Elijah raised the dead (1 Kings 17: 19-24, and like the two witnesses, Elijah called down fire from heaven in self-defense i.e. 2 Kings 1:10), Elisha raised the dead (2 Kings 4:32-35) and of course Jesus Christ raised the dead (Luke 7:12-16, Matthew 9:18-25) - and all of them were hated by a deceived world for it. Every single one of them.

"And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will." (Revelation 11:3-6 KJV)

Jesus Christ also warned about the "fool's gold," the workers of false miracles:

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Matthew 24:24 KJV)

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." (2 Thessalonians 2:7-10 KJV)

The verses above provide the "by the book" defense against "fool's gold" - the love of the Truth. And what is the Truth? "Thy Word is Truth" (John 17:17 KJV). Workers of false miracles will be in violation of God's Word, the Holy Bible, by what they teach. They will be right about some things (that's the bait), but the heart of their teachings will be a contradiction of what is written in the Holy Scriptures.

Prophecy also provides a description of the political and religious entity from and for which the bulk of the Satanic "miracles" will be done - a "beast" and his "great false prophet" who will perform miracles on his behalf:

"And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." (Revelation 13:13-18 KJV)
