The Two Kinds of Washing

A definition of brainwashing could be "a coerced indoctrination into an opposing set of attitudes and beliefs." The world today has been brainwashed into ways of evil, "the god of this world [see Who Still Rules The World Today?] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, Who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV). But brain "washing" is not what Satan has actually done. Washing makes something clean; Satan has "brainwashed" the minds of humanity with filth, so that humans want to do evil.

The good news is that a new world is coming, after Satan is put away at the time of The Return Of Jesus Christ (Revelation 20:1-3, see also Scenes From The Millennium), when humanity is going to be brainwashed, not in the sinister way that the term "brainwashing" implies now, which isn't washing at all, but in a Godly way that will bring about a purity of mind and body. True Christians have begun the process, "let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water" (Hebrews 10:22 KJV), but later God is going to wash all of humanity with "living waters," the Holy Spirit, "and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh." (Acts 2:17 KJV)

"sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church"

Even the most righteous Christians are still living in a world of Satan's influence (again, see Who Still Rules The World Today?). It's the people who strive the hardest to obey God that Satan spends the most effort on, as made plain by the apostle Paul, one of the greatest Christians that the world will ever know (see Paul's Ministry), a man who wrote much of what became the New Testament, who was spiritually hounded by Satan during the whole time of his service to God:

"For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" (Romans 7:19-24 KJV)

While complete purity will come only after mortality has been left behind (see When Will You Be Judged?), true Christians have begun the process of being "brainwashed":

"And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the Name of the Lord." (Acts 22:16 KJV)

"but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:11 KJV)

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." (Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV)
