The Lawless Generation

In the time of Noah, humanity as a whole had become so defiantly lawless that the only remedy was to bring about the end of them and their "world." The "LORD God," Who was later born as Jesus Christ (see Christ The Creator, 'The God Of The Old Testament' and 'Before Abraham Was, I AM') brought the flood upon them.

"6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with Violence. 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth." (Genesis 6:11-13 KJV)

That same sort of worldwide lawlessness is going to be repeated in the time just before The Messiah returns to put an end to them and their "world" (the King James Version uses "Noe" for Noah in the New Testament):

"24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." (Matthew 24:37-39 KJV)

"The child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable"

It may well be that every generation thinks that "kids today" have weaker morality than their parents. Whether that's true or not is debatable (if it were true, could it be because the parents' own weak morality let their own slide go even farther with their undisciplined children, who repeated it in their children?). But according to the Word of God, the parents of the last generation prior to Christ's return will be right. That generation (of humanity as a whole, of all ages, just as in the time of Noah - but including even some of the children i.e. "23:29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare" Matthew 23:29 KJV) will descend to a level of evil never before seen in the history of humanity.

The Holy Scriptures

"1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward." (Isaiah 1:4 KJV)

"3:5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable." (Isaiah 3:3 KJV)

"3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof [see Grace Into Licentiousness]: from such turn away." (2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV)

The LORD's response to the lawless world in the time of Noah was a flood of water. The LORD's ultimate response to the lawless world at the end will be another flood - of fire.

"3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." (2 Peter 3:3-13 KJV)
