Was Jesus A "New Testament" Christian?

There are many who claim to be "New Testament" Christians, while never having actually read it (or the "Old" Testament either - "I don't have time" is the usual excuse, while always seemingly to have plenty of time for anything else that they want to do). Instead, they recite a few carefully-selected verses that they use as their supposed justification to live in whatever way that they have already decided for themselves - a state of self-worship (see Is Your Religion Your Religion?). At the same time, their spineless (they fear mere people, rather than Almighty God) "harlot" preachers (whose pleasing, obedient-to-the-people words are bought every Sunday or Sabbath) fill their minds with more fantasies that unrepentant ears eagerly want to hear (see Antichristians). Those aren't harsh statements; they're harsh realities in the "Babylon" world of today (see What And Where Is Babylon Today?).

It is widely found in the Sunday-keeping world of Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, whose core anti-Biblical (i.e. anti-Christ) doctrines are practically identical. But it also, by Christ's own Word, often applies to, for example, Sabbath-keeping people if they defile the Sanctified Day of the LORD by defiantly buying or selling on the one and only day that the LORD God, Who was and is Jesus Christ (see 'Before Abraham Was, I AM'), commanded to make Holy.

By His own example, nowhere is it written that Jesus Christ worked (i.e. as a carpenter) or bought or sold anything on the Sabbath - unlike the ever-present "money changers" and dove-peddlers that He threw out of the Temple.

"21:12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." (Matthew 21:12-13 KJV)

Some even go to the blasphemous extreme of claiming that Christ "did away" with the Sabbath! In doing so, the Judaism that rejected Christ, and the bogus Christian-professing world (whether they claim to be keeping the true Sabbath or not), agree in their blasphemous claim that Christ violated God's Law. They directly imply that the Saviour sinned.

Letters To The True People Of God, Living In Genuine Obedience To The Word Of God

In a way however, Christ-rejecting Jews and Christ-rejecting Christians do have one thing in common with Jesus Christ. The Messiah never read the New Testament either, not because He was a self-righteous religious hypocrite who chose to ignore, and thereby be deliberately ignorant of it, but because it didn't exist during the time of His Ministry and Sacrifice. It wasn't necessary.

The Holy Scriptures Unlike those who claim to worship the Messiah, while arrogantly disobeying Him, the Son of God was a very devout and obedient sinless Saviour. He knew "the Bible," He actually read "the Bible" (see the Fact Finder question below and 1 Year Holy Bible Reading Plan) and He lived and died according to "the Bible" - the so-called "Old Testament" that millions of Christian-professing (whether Sunday keeping, or merely Sabbath-professing) people reject by their defiance of it. Included in their rejection is Christ Himself, as Christ Himself warned.

"5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-19 KJV)

Christ's warning to those who claim to be Christian, whether Roman Sunday-keeping or true Sabbath-keeping, regardless of how much they do for themselves in His Name, while not obeying the Law as He Commanded, have a rebuke coming. Christ's warning was to all "Christian" rebels and hypocrites:

"7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:21-23 KJV)

The genuine "New Testament" Church began to read the "New Testament" letters after the Sacrifice of the Messiah. They didn't do so by going to their local "Christian" book store (that is typically closed on Sunday, because they don't want to defile that day by buying or selling, while they busily peddle Bibles on the Sabbath - selling the very words of God on the day that the very words of God command not to buy or sell). The Church began to read the "New Testament" by means of the letters that various genuine Christian teachers sent to them, that taught the Word of God - the so-called "Old Testament."

The "New Testament" is merely a collection of letters that teach the Truth of the Hebrew Scriptures that Jesus Christ obeyed and lived by - just as His true followers still do (I am not referring to the Levitical rituals that Christ fulfilled, that many erroneously include as the Law of God itself - God's Eternal Law of Salvation is not a ritual; see Calendar of Christ's Holy Days).

The New Testament has been traditionally defined as the "Gospels," Acts, the epistles and the Book of Revelation. But in fact, they are all, unlike the "Old Testament," letters to and about the true Church of God that record the history of the fulfillment and honoring of the "Old Testament" - much of which hasn't even happened yet i.e. the future Kingdom of God prophecies that are found throughout the "Old" Testament e.g. "14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles" (Zechariah 14:16 KJV).

For example, Luke's "Gospel" was a letter, to a man named Theophilus, about the true Church obeying God's Word from the Holy Scriptures that already existed:

"1:1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 1:2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 1:3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 1:4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed." (Luke 1:1-4 KJV)

The "book" of Acts was a letter, also by Luke, also to a man named Theophilus, about the true Church obeying God's Word from the Holy Scriptures that already existed:

"1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 1:3 To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God" (Acts 1:1-3 KJV)

All of the epistles are obviously letters ("epistle" actually means letter) about the true Church obeying God's Word from the Holy Scriptures that already existed. Examples:

"1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours" (1 Corinthians 1:1-2 KJV)

"1:1 Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead; 1:2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia" (Galatians 1:1-2 KJV)

"1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 1:1 KJV)

"1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." (Colossians 1:1-2 KJV)

"1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thessalonians 1:1 KJV)

The "book" of Revelation was a letter (the King James uses "book" for the actual word which meant scroll) about the true Church obeying God's Word from the Holy Scriptures that already existed:

"1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea." (Revelation 1:11 KJV)

This Day In History, June 15

763 BC: The Assyrians (see Ancient Empires - Assyria) recorded a solar eclipse that was later used to determine the dates of other events in the history of ancient Mesopotamia (the homeland of Abraham; see Israel's Iraqi Roots).

923: King Robert I of France was killed at the Battle of Soissons.

1184: King Magnus V of Norway was killed at the Battle of Fimreite.

1215: King John sealed the Magna Carta, the Great Charter of English liberties, at Runnymede, near Windsor.

1381: The Peasants Revolt ended in Britain with its leader Wat Tyler being beheaded in London.

1389: The Ottoman Empire defeated the Serbs and Bosnians at the Battle of Kosovo (listen to our Sermon The Ottoman Empire).

1467: Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, died; he founded the Burgundian state that rivalled France in the 15th century.

1520: Pope Leo X excommunicated Martin Luther for refusing the Pope as his leader. Luther nevertheless maintained almost all of the Church of Rome's antichrist doctrines, as do the "Protestant" churches of today.

1567: Mary, Queen of Scots, was captured at the battle of Carberry Hill, near Edinburgh.

1744: British Admiral George Anson returned to England after circumnavigating the globe in an expedition that lasted nearly four years.

1846: The Oregon Boundary Treaty was signed by Queen Victoria and U.S. President James Polk. The treaty set the boundary between British North America and the breakaway colonies at the 49th parallel from the crest of the Rockies to the middle of the channel between Vancouver Island and the mainland.

1888: Crown Prince Wilhelm became Kaiser Wilhelm II, the last Emperor of the German Empire (see The Holy Roman Empire).

1898: A tidal wave killed 22,000 people in Japan.

1992: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it is "permissible" for the US to "forcibly extradite" anyone from other countries without any regard for the sovereignty of those countries - while at the same time proclaiming it illegal for any other country to do the very same thing to anyone in the U.S.

1994: Israel and The Vatican established full diplomatic ties.

1997: David Streeter, director of Britain's "Church Society," stated that Prince Charles should end his relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles or give up his claim to the throne. "We are not going to have a confessed adulterer as supreme head of the Church of England," he said (an extremely ironic statement because the Church of England was created by an adulterer, King Henry VIII, to accommodate his repeated divorces and marriages that even the Papacy, the "great harlot" of Rome, said was immoral).

2002: An asteroid missed the Earth by only 121,000 kilometers, about 1/3 the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
