When Do Jews Become Christians?
The Word of God was born as the human Messiah of all of humanity ("3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" Galatians 3:28-29 KJV).
"1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God [see 'Before Abraham Was, I AM']. 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men" (John 1:1-4 KJV)
To fulfill all of the prophecies that were written about Him in the Law and the Prophets, Jesus of Nazareth was born a Jew, in the direct family line of King David (Joseph and Mary were both of the line of David; see Primogeniture and Descent and Israelite Monarchy - The Messiah).
"2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth [see Why Bethlehem, Egypt, Nazareth And Capernaum?], into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and lineage of David: 2:5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child." (Luke 2:4-5 KJV)
The Messiah was an observant Jew for His entire life. Jesus never did anything contrary to the genuine Law and Prophets (see The By-The-Book Messiah).
"4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 4:15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
"My brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh"
In view of the Biblical reality that we read in the verses above, consider the irony (perhaps the greatest irony of all time) that most of the people of Judah ("Jew" is an abbreviation of Judah) did not recognize the Messiah when He came - and still don't. Many have, but the majority have not, yet, come to that reality. Why? Consider the example of Saul the Pharisee, who prior to his awakening not only rejected and detested the Messiah, but actually hunted those Jews who did. Saul later became known as the apostle Paul - one of the greatest servants of the Messiah that ever lived. How did Saul the Pharisee explain it?
"1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the Church of God, and wasted it: 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia [see also Why Did Paul Say That Sinai Was In Arabia?], and returned again unto Damascus.
Was Saul / Paul turning against "the Jews' religion," his own religion, (as stated in verse 13 above)? Absolutely not.
"3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? [see Circumcision] 3:2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God [i.e. words of God, the Holy Scriptures; see Oracles]."
Notice Paul's love and concern for his fellow Jews, "my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh."
"9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh [see also Was Paul A Jew or a Benjamite?]: 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
But why then did their rejection of the Messiah (not the Messiah's rejection of them) happen, not only at the time of the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God, but why does it continue in so many people of Judah today?
First, understand why the "blindness" was made to happen, by means of a withholding of the Holy Spirit (see Paul's Blindness Lesson and Growing In The Grace And Knowledge). It was necessary for the Lamb of God to be sacrificed, at Passover (see Christ's Passover; listen also to the Sermon Christ's Passover: The Death And Birth Of The Saviour from our Sermons page) by the only people who were observing Passover. What if they all had recognized the Christ as the Christ? They would not have had Him sacrificed, and the world would still be without a Savior - they would have fought to prevent it, just as Peter did when he drew his sword to prevent the Messiah's arrest (see Malchus).
""16:21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 16:22 And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, "God forbid, Lord! This shall never happen to you." (Matthew 16:21-22 KJV)
But there is another reason. The Messiah is the Saviour of all people - as exemplified by righteous Abraham who was a gentile, not a Jew (see Abraham Wasn't A Jew and 'Raghead' Racism). In due time, everyone, including all of the people of Judah, will come to see and understand, "For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins" (see The Gathering of Israel and Judah and Why Two Resurrections?).
"11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer [see Anti-Zion Is Anti-Christ and Moriah: Separating The Wheat From The Chaff], and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins." (Romans 11:16-28 KJV)

Founded in 962 by Otto I of Germany, the Holy Roman Empire was a political entity in parts of Europe, primarily German states, over which the pope had spiritual control. The empire reached its zenith under the Hohenstaufens (1138-1254).
