What Did The Messiah Do With The Burning Bush?
"And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you ... that Rock was Christ ... Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM"
The incident involving Moses and "the burning bush" is one of the most famous of Bible history. It happened after Moses fled into the Sinai (see also Biblical Eras: The Exodus In History and Prophecy and Hometowns: Campsites Of The Sinai) from Egypt (see also Biblical Eras: 400 Years Of Israel's Prosperity In Egypt).
"2:15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
Moses then discovered that the "burning bush" was a beacon to the Presence of the LORD. Moses answered the call with "Here am I" - to which the LORD God "said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM."
"3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses.
Moses was then given his instructions for the Exodus. Moses was not their deliverer: "God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you."
"3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
God the Father (see What Does God The Father Really Look Like?) sent the LORD God to do the Work of Creation (see A Biography Of Jesus Christ: The LORD God Of Creation). It was the LORD God Who created His Sabbath (see Why "Remember" The Sabbath Day?). It was the LORD God Who declared His Ten Commandments (see the Fact Finder question below). Who is the LORD God? "That Rock was Christ."
"10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Centuries later, when He was born as a man, the Messiah repeated to the leaders of Judaism (see also A Biography Of Jesus Christ: Setting The Stage Of Jerusalem) what He had already declared to Moses: "Before Abraham was, I AM."
"8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
Fact Finder: What did the Messiah declare from Mount Sinai?
This Day In History, April 1
286: The accession of Maximian, Roman emperor 286-310 AD (see also The Messiah And The Caesars and The Roman Emperors: Domitian and The Roman Emperors: Julius Caesar and The Founding Of Rome: The Curious Tale Of Romulus and Remus).
325: Jin Chengdi, at age 4, succeeded his father Jin Mingdi as emperor of China's Jin Dynasty (see also The First Chinese American War).
457: As the military "superpower" (see The Two Super Commandments to understand the origin of the word "super") Roman Empire was collapsing from its moral rot and corruption (see What Happens To A Nation When God's Law Is Forsaken?), the Roman army proclaimed Majorian as emperor. The Roman Empire was superseded by Germany (see The Holy Roman Empire Of The German Nation).
527: Byzantine Emperor Justin I declared his nephew Justinian I as co-ruler and successor to the throne.
1204: Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen of France and England, died.
1564: All Fools Day (in France) is said to have originated when King Charles IX of France changed the calendar on this date. Before the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar (see Pope Gregory's Calendar; also The Antichrist Calendar), April 1 was observed as New Year's Day by cultures as varied as the Roman and the Hindu.
1578: English physician William Harvey discovered blood circulation.
1621: The first colonial treaty with "Indians" (early explorers thought that they had landed in India - and so erroneously named the native people "Indians") in North America was signed between Massasoit, chief of the Wampanoags, and English Pilgrims on behalf of James I at Strawberry Hill, Massachusetts (see also The First Chinese American War).
1665: The Great Plague hit London (see also Leviticus 13: Bacteria).
1734: Canada's first lighthouse began operating, at Louisbourg, Nova Scotia.
1875: The Times of London was the first newspaper to print a daily weather chart.
1778: According to U.S. legend, Oliver Pollock, a New Orleans businessman, reportedly created the dollar "$" sign (the dollar itself originated, in Europe, long before; see The Birth Of The Dollar).
1918: During the First World War (1914-1918; see also The Assassination That Triggered Two World Wars), the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Force merged to form the Britain's Royal Air Force (see also Who Was The First To Fly?).
1920: The German Worker's Party changed its name to the National Socialist German Worker's Party - Nazi.
1924: Adolf Hitler was sentenced to 5 years in jail for high treason (a strange charge because Hitler was born in Austria, not Germany - his citizenship was settled only after he came to power and invaded Austria, declaring it part of Germany) after his failed 1923 putsch. He was released December 20 of the same year (see Why Does Satan Love Liars? and Presidential Quotes On War, Terrorism, Religion; see also Is Iniquity Liberal Or Conservative?).
1924: The Royal Canadian Air Force was established.
1925: British statesman Arthur James Balfour dedicated Hebrew University on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem (see Israel In History and Prophecy: Balfour Declaration).
1933: The Nazi government ordered a boycott of businesses owned by Jews and seized their bank accounts (see also Jews - Three Tribes and Three Meanings).

1939: Francisco Franco declared the end of the Spanish Civil War.
1948: The Berlin blockade began when the Russians began checking all road and rail traffic between Berlin and the Western Zones. The Berlin Airlift began in response to the blockade. The Russian occupation of Germany at the end of the Second World War (1939-1945) was a counterattack to Germany's invasion of Russia in which millions of Russians died; see Russia Or Europe - Who Has Been The Invader?).
1952: The "Big Bang" theory of creation was first published (see The Holy Spirit In History and Prophecy: The Creation Of Matter And Man).
1976: Apple Inc. was established by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne.
1979: Iran became an Islamic Republic by a 99% vote, officially overthrowing the Shah, a U.S.-backed dictator.
1997: Comet Hale-Bopp passed perihelion (the point in the orbit of a planet or comet where it is nearest to the sun).
1999: Nunavut was established as a Canadian territory, becoming a separate part of the Northwest Territories.
2001: A U.S. Navy spy plane collided with a Chinese fighter jet that was challenging it near the Chinese coast (imagine what would happen if a Chinese military aircraft flew the same way along the U.S. coast). The Chinese plane and pilot were lost, while the U.S. spy plane made an emergency unauthorized landing on a nearby Chinese military base where the U.S. crew was taken into custody before being released almost 2 weeks later (see also The First Chinese American War).
